Smackdown Spoilers for October 13, 2006

News, Spoilers

The following are Smackdown taping results from last night, according to WrestlingObserver.com and Johnathan Starling:

Dark Match: Matt Hardy defeated Gregory Helms at 5:51 after Hardy ducked a Shining Wizard and hit the Twist of Fate. Solid opener between two workers who have been working each other the past month or so.

After the ECW tapings, Smackdown opened with a No Mercy recap. It’s the same one from Raw.

Announced that Batista, Bobby Lashley, and Finlay will be facing off in a number one contenders match for the World Heavyweight Championship on next week’s edition of Smackdown.

Ken Kennedy makes his way out and cuts a promo. He opens by saying that he’s asked Teddy to move him to Raw since he’s beaten all on Smackdown. However Teddy said no since he hadn’t beaten Undertaker. Well at No Mercy he did just that. Kennedy said he didn’t care how he won it and that all that mattered was wins and losses and he defeated Taker. However that just wasn’t good enough for Teddy. Kennedy then puts his title on the line against someone he hasn’t defeated on Smackdown and when he does that he’s heading to Raw.

Ken Kennedy vs Chris Benoit for the United States Championship. Benoit dominated early, and then Kennedy takes over after Benoit’s attempt to turn the Sharp Shooter into the Crossface backfires. Kennedy stays in control until Undertaker’s music hits and he stays at the entrance way. Benoit then takes control again and wins the United States Championship at 15:42 when he gets Kennedy into the Crossface.

We are then shown the segment on Raw when Vince books the Cyber Sunday main event.

Backstage, King Booker wants Teddy Long to cancel the number 1 contenders match. Booker then says that he’s Smackdown’s only chance of winning at Cyber Sunday. Teddy Long then reminds King Booker that all three men hold wins over the champ, then says he’s not changing his mind.

William Regal comes out and we are all reminded of what happened to him at No Mercy.

William Regal vs Vito: Basically the same match we’ve seen from these two before. Vito wins at 4:26 after he counters a sunset flip and sits on top of Regal.

Lashley then is shown backstage saying that he’s faced adversity before and welcomes the pressure. Lashley also says he will not only become the number 1 contender, but become World Champion.

MVP makes an appearance and says he has a MVP sized problem. His problem was that there was no competition and that Teddy Long was trying to play him with the match he had at No Mercy. MVP says that he’s ready for his Smackdown debut and wants something he can sink his teeth into and that will make him work up at sweat. Teddy Long then comes out and says if he wants to break a sweat, it’s gonna get real hot. Kane then comes out. During this segment, crowd breaks out into a loud ‘Power Rangers’ chant.

Kane vs MVP: Well it wasn’t a match, but more or less a glorified beatdown. The bell never rang as every time the ref would call for the bell, MVP would prevent him and ‘warm up’. Kane then beats MVP down around ringside before MVP rakes Kane’s eyes and bails.

John Cena at Paris Island video plays. During which Jamie Noble comes out.

Jamie Noble vs Rey Mysterio. Before the match begins, Chavo and Vickie comes out to say hi. Chavo says not for Rey to worry as they will not venture ringside. The match itself was a decent back and forth affair won by Rey Mysterio after he hits the 619, springboard legdrop combo at 4:38. Post match, Chavo says that he’s at the lowest point of his career. Chavo continues by saying that as long as both Rey and Chavo are on the same brand, there will always be problems. Chavo then challenges Rey to an I-Quit match where the loser must leave. Rey says something I was unable to hear, but Vickie comes back and says that the difference between Eddie and Rey was that Eddie had balls. Rey says that he will prove what he is made of and that I-Quit is not going to come from Rey, but from Chavo.

Paul London, Brian Kendrick and Jimmy Wang Yang (with Ashley) vs KC James, Idol Stevens and Sylvan (with Michelle McCool). This match broke down early and was that way for the majority of it. Jimmy Wang Yang pins Sylvan at 3:26 after hitting a moonsault.

Cole asks Finlay, who is backstage a question. Finlay says he will be the world champion. Finlay says he will knock Lashley’s teeth in and just beat down Batista.

Batista then cuts a promo saying that he is going to get what he wants and it doesn’t matter what he has to go through.

Booker T and Sharmell join Michael Cole and JBL at ringside.

Bobby Lashley vs Finlay vs Batista for the number one contendership to the World Heavyweight Championship next Friday. This was about as well as it was going to be. Nothing much happened in the first half of the match, but once all three men got outside, it got interesting. Batista takes the broadcast table apart, but is taken through it with the help of Lashley and Finlay. Lashley and Finlay then fight in the ring and after Finlay hits the Celtic Cross on Lashley, Batista breaks the count up on 2. Lashley goes for a military press and is speared by Batista. Batista pins Finlay cleanly at 13:47 after Finlay hits Lashley with the stick and Batista hits the Batista Bomb on Finlay.

Post match, Batista and King Booker get involved in a stare down. King Booker gets into the ring and is beaten down, but before Booker is Batista Bombed, he bails. Unsure where the taping ended, if it was during the stare down, or after Batista got his hands on King Booker.
