That Bootleg Guy On… Lloyd Banks

Insider

Has anyone else ever wondered what the “G” in “G-Unit” stands for? About a year ago, I thought 50 Cent protégé, Lloyd Banks had the answer. But, upon further inspection, it appears the “G” stands for shameless promotional stunt “giving”.

Earlier this week, Banks donated $10,000 to August Martin High School in Jamaica, Queens through the inanely-named G-Unity Foundation. The money has been earmarked for the school’s on-campus library, which is badly in need of upgrades (sample text: a Jet Magazine cover story entitled: “NBC’s ‘Amen’ & ‘227’: Saturday Nights Will Never Be The Same!”

In an interview with New York’s local Fox affiliate (which surely topped Wanda at Large and the last three seasons of Martin as the worst Black programming in network history), Banks offered up these inspirational pearls of”¦um, something:

“I will make sure I come back here every year, as long as they accept me, just to let them know there’s something else beyond these walls.”

Wow, Lloyd. That’s pretty presumptuous of you, don’cha think?

Besides, do high school students really need your annual visits to “know” that there are actually young Black men out there living on borrowed time and beyond their means? He’s basically a living, lyrical lay-a-way plan. But, surely, he made the most of his time at August Martin, right?

” I love English, I wanted to know how to read and count my money, so I love math. You have to take what you want out of it. (School) definitely puts you on the right direction.”

For those scoring at home, Banks wanted to learn how to read and perform…addition?

Did he not pick up these kindergarten skills when he was four or five like the rest of us or was he just pacing himself until 12th grade?

G-G-G-G-G.E.D.!
