Looking Ahead – 17th October 2006

Man am I tired. I wrote parts of this on Monday night, but then I stepped up to the plate and did the Raw Live Coverage (which you can view here) so if any parts of this don’t make much sense… blame it on the no-sleep factor.

(Danny Wallace – Lives in UK. UK get Raw LIVE at 2am. As Tracy Smothers would say… appreciate it… or EVERYBODY DIES!).

Oh, this column takes the spoilers for SmackDown into account. You’ve been warned.

RAW

Next PPV – Cyber Sunday; 05/11/06

The Announced Card

Champion of Champions Match
John Cena vs. King Booker vs. Big Show

As I said last week, I’m not much of a fan of this match. For starters, the loser will look weak, resulting in his respective brand looking weak. Secondly, I’m not fond of the new mentality of the WWE where any brands superstars can fight one another on any given show (it seems).

What happened to the rule that you could only have brand vs. brand matches at WrestleMania? Hell, I don’t mind it if they do it at any of the 4/5 big PPVS, but not crappy Cyber Sunday.

According to rumours floating around here, PWInsider and other sources, the fan’s choice stipulation will be deciding on which World Title is defended. Personally, I can see the WWE Title on the line, with Cena retaining.

Speculation…

DX vs. Orton & Edge

This could be the feud that finally gets Randy Orton back on track. A win over either HHH or HBK would do wonders for his credibility, and a long feud against the two keeps all four men in focus and gives them something to do. The other thing I love about this is that it’s interesting AND fresh, a combination of which in my opinion the WWE has been lacking from it’s storylines for a while now.

They need a DX loss here for the Edge/Orton partnership to mean anything or have any ground, otherwise there’s not much point.

Intercontinental Championship

Jeff Hardy vs. ?

The fans choice stipulation for this match is apparently choosing the opponent for one Jeffrey Hardyboy. The list of possible opponents is (robbed from our news page) Shelton Benjamin, Carlito, Super Crazy, Chris Masters, and Johnny Nitro.

Unless they rig it, we’ll get Carlito or Johnny Nitro as the winner. I’m sure the WWE want Nitro to win it, so they’ll do what they did last time and shove Hardy vs. Nitro down our throats until the marks vote for Nitro. Being a smark myself, I shall be trying my very best to mess up their plans (as all good smarks should) and turn it into a Super Crazy win.

Tag Team Title Match

The Spirit Squad vs. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ted Dibiase, IRS, Roddy Piper

Come one, you know you’d love to see Money Inc team up again, along with Piper, Double A and The Nature Boy. It’d also be a great way for the Spirit Squad to finally break up. (if they haven’t already).

Umaga vs. ?

Not too sure who Umaga should face, but he needs an opponent and a spot on the card to go along with his push, so maybe the fans choice could be who he goes up against.

SMACKDOWN, RAW & ECW

Next PPV – Survivor Series; 26/11/06

No matches set in stone as of yet, however there are rumours emerging about a triple threat Survivor Series Style match for the main event, featuring teams from Raw, SmackDown and ECW.

No word if this is going to happen yet, but it looks likely.

The Last Bit…

I went to 1PW’s First Anniversary on Saturday and although it lasted for 5 hours, it was a good night. Where else can you go see a mix of every style of wrestling?

AJ Styles vs. Pac was the match of the night by miles. Curry Man vs. Goldust(in) was also a great comedy match. Steve Corino vs. Abyss in a NO ROPE BARBEDWIRE HELL match was sick. And yes folks, the barbed wire was REAL.. they let fans touch the barbed wire (including myself). That shits real.

Did anybody else go to the show? Send me an email, I look forward to hearing from you. 1P-DUB!

Right.. I’m off to have a power hour before I head to work. Yaaaaawn…

Stay Sleepy…

Danny Wallace.
