Universal Studios and Platinum Dunes are in the process of trying to get another remake out into theatres: The Birds, a film by Alfred Hitchcock.
This new version of the film may differ slightly from the original as Universal owns the rights to the short story by Daphne Du Maurier which also inspired the original.
Not much is known about this film so far as it still is in the developmental stages but it is rumored that Leslie Dixon is set to pen the movie. Dixon’s credits include the screenplays for Mrs. Doubtfire, The Thomas Crowne Affair, and Pay It Forward.
The other rumor floating around now is that Naomi Watts will star. Watts has starred in several remakes in the last ten years, most notably Peter Jackson’s King Kong and the American version of the Japanese horror classic The Ring.
The Birds is about people in a northern California city that are randomly and suddenly attacked by all species of birds. The birds continue to attack more viciously and in increasing numbers as time goes on.
