Tobin Bell, Saw‘s villain Jigsaw, once said that he had signed on for five sequels to the successful first film. He may not have been kidding.
There have now been numerous confirmations behind the scenes that Lionsgate is preparing for next year should October 27th’s opening weekend of Saw III do well. As many as four writers have been rumored to already be in the mix to write multiple scripts for a movie that would possibly be released next October.
The Saw franchise has been very lucrative for Lionsgate. Saw, made $103 million off of a $1.2 million budget and its sequel, Saw II, made $144 million off of a $4 million budget.
