Spider-Man 3 isn’t scheduled to come out until May 4 of next year. The new trailer is hitting theatres in mid-November with Casino Royale. We already know that another reincarnation of Green Goblin, the Sandman, and Venom (who the trailer will hopefully show more of) are going to be fast after our web-slinging hero. But now the long-standing rumor of a fourth villain may really be true.
There are reports that Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Bubba Ho-Tep) is returning for the third film to star as Quentin Beck. For those of you who don’t know, Quentin Beck is in turn super-villain Mysterio.
Campbell has had cameos in the first two films as a ring announcer and ticket taker at a theatre. This too would be a cameo, small part, but could lead into a possible fourth film.
As the story goes, Peter Parker finds out that a movie is being made about Spider-Man. So out of curiosity, he finds out where it’s being filmed and makes his way over there. Avi Arad and Sam Raimi will have cameo parts as the producer and director of the film inside the film, while the special FX guy will be Quentin Beck.
In the comics, Beck used his special FX knowledge to make a bigger name for himself and destroy a superhero”¦namely Spider-Man.
This has not all been proven and should still be considered as rumors, so take it all with a grain of salt. But if they are true, then this could mean the continuation of a very profitable franchise many thought would end at three.
