It’s 3:15, Central STANDARD Time, which means it’s time to pass the baton from the early games to the late games.
First, let’s see how the early games panned out.
BEARS 41, NINERS 10
The Bears rack up major BCS points behind 3 Rex Grossman TD passes. Next week, the Bears take on Arkansas State.
FALCONS 29, BENGALS 27
Prepare for a lot of Michael Vick nipple rubbing this week, he had another good game. 3 TDs and 291 yards passing, coupled with 55 yards rushing.
PACKERS 31, CARDINALS 14
Matt Leinart goes 14 of 35. The Packers have 2 100 yard rushers, Ahman Green and Vernand Morency. Cardinals fall to league worst 1-7.
TITANS 28, TEXANS 22
Make it 2 wins in a row for Vince Young and the Titans. VY throws for a TD and runs for one. David Carr gets benched in the third quarter in favor of Sage Rosenfels, and Sage throws 3 TD passes.
RAVENS 35, SAINTS 22
Brian Billick is an offensive genius no?? Drew Brees throws 3 TDs and 3 INTS. Marques Colston and Joe Horn combine for 11 catches, 289 yards, and 3 TDs.
JAGUARS 13, EAGLES 6
Jags run for 219 yards and pick up a huge road win over the skidding Eagles, who have lost 3 in a row to fall to 4-4.
GIANTS 17, BUCS 3
Bruce Gradkowski throws 48 times for 139 yards. I’m pretty sure I could do that.
So there’s your early games. Here’s a preview of the late games.
RAMS AT CHARGERS
A big game for a pair of 4-2 teams. Chargers are averaging 148 yards a game on the ground, while the Rams are giving up 121. Should be a big day for LT and Michael Turner.
STEELERS AT RAIDERS
You can’t really run on the Steelers, but the Raiders can’t throw against anyone, so they’ll have to run to stay in this game. The Steelers could have the same record as the Raiders if they lose this game, does anyone realize that? Just two weeks ago I kept hearing how the Raiders were going to go 0-16 and the Steelers were once again the team to beat in the AFC North.
JETS AT BROWNS
The Jets are going to be 5-3 after this game? What’s next, a talking banana?
COLTS AT BRONCOS
Playing this game on the 360 has told me that Peyton Manning can have a very productive day if he throws quick sideline passes to Marvin and Reggie Wayne, and exploits the safeties by throwing to Dallas Clark. From my lips to God’s ears.
TONIGHT
COWBOYS AT PANTHERS
Great I get to look at Bill Parcells’ dour mug all night. Awesome.
Okay that’s it for now. I’ll be back tomorrow to wrap up these late games and give you an NFC South update.
