Reality Dish Presents Yo Momma Week – Thursday

Features, Shows

YO MOMMA WEEK continues on RealityDish.com and today we have a double feature. Not only will we profile the main host of the show, Wilmer Valderrama, but we will also announce a contest that Canadians can enter and win $1,000 in “cash mooooney” themselves, thanks to MTV Canada! So read on for more details…

Wilmer Valderrama was born on January 30, 1980 in Miami, Florida. He stands 5’8″ tall. He is of Colombian and Venezuelan descent. Wilmer’s family moved to Venezuela when he was three years old. Valderrama’s family then moved to Los Angeles from Venezuela when Wilmer was 13-years-old. He didn’t speak English upon his arrival, but he quickly learned the language in school and began drama classes during high school to help assimilate himself into American culture. He graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1999. He is fluent in Spanish.

Wilmer is best known for his role on That ’70s Show, where he played “Fez”. “Fez” is a foreign exchange student who always tries to catch on to the trends and lingo of his American friends, which in turn makes “Fez’s” conversations hilarious. He has been a victim on Punk’d more than anyone else. He is best friends with the host of that show, Ashton Kutcher, and attending Ashton’s wedding to Demi Moore. Besides being on Yo Momma, Wilmer also was the lead role in the movie version of the TV show, CHIPS, this year.

Besides That 70’s Show, you may know Wilmer best from his personal life, which has been made public a lot. Wilmer was previously in serious relationships with both Mandy Moore and Lindsay Lohan. It has also been reported that he had a fling with Eva Longoria before and during her relationship with Tony Parker. Valderrama stated on an interview on the Howard Stern Show that he and Lohan dated for a year, and that she was great “in bed.”

Why Wilmer is great with the ladies is a mystery to me. Women do find him attractive, but has never been declared by any magazines as being the “sexiest” ever or even being on a list of “sexiest” men. His co-host Sam has him beat in that category. In addition, his role on That 70’s Show probably made him famous, but his character was supposed to be the comic relief as he was quite dumb. I don’t think that’s very attractive to women. I believe the reason why he has been with such beautiful women is the fact that he IS friends with Ashton Kutcher and Ashton has been declared “sexy” by many magazines. To his credit, Wilmer was named as one of the “Top 50 Bachelors” by PEOPLE Magazine in 2002.

On Yo Momma, Wilmer has created a few catch phrases. One is “OoooWeee!”. It can be something really good or something really bad. It is funny to hear, because of the Spanish accent he uses, but it can get old. Another thing he says at the end is “Cash Mooooney”. The winner of each day gets $1,000 in “Cash Mooooney”. Now you really have to hear the way he says it to see why it’s funny. He says those words with a strong Spanish accent. I can deal with that phrase more than the “OoooWeeee!”, but both can get old if you hear them a lot.

As I said yesterday, I like Sam the best on the show. Wilmer is the “famous guy” on the show. Sometimes I think Wilmer tries to be too hard to be funny on the show, but without Wilmer there probably would be Yo Momma. Yes, it’s obvious that without Ashton Kutcher and Punk’d, there wouldn’t be a Wilmer Valderrama and Yo Momma to begin with. But Wilmer knows that “it’s now what you know, but who you know”, and he is taking full advantage of that. Can you blame him?

Sir Linksalot: Yo Momma

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
