The Show:
Apparently, this was Cedric the Entertainer’s first solo HBO special. And for this special, he tries something a little off the beaten path, mixing song and dance with comedy.
As is typical with Cedric’s comedy, it’s very black-centric, as he riffs on television, reality television (apparently he wore Jerry Rice’s jersey watching Dancing With the Stars), rap music, the NBA, the President (Clinton, of course) and more.
There’s only a few song and dance skits, but Cedric works hard to make them entertaining. It feels a bit forced though, like he added a bit to his routine just to do the singing and dancing.
Overall, there’s a little something for everyone, and while I do think that there are better comedians out there, Cedric certainly lives up to his name – he gives you one hour of entertaining comedy that’s safe enough to show to your friends.

Everything looks nice and bright. You can see Cedric and the dancers. I’m not sure you really need to see anything else.

Yeah, like you really need something better for a comedy special. Go watch something that blows up stuff to test your subwoofer.
Special Features:
A Conversation with Cedric the Entertainer – The disc says it’s “A Hilarious Interview”. Don’t be fooled – it’s pretty much your basic EPK with a couple of comedy bits thrown in.
