Tuesday Pancakes: AFC East Notes

Happy Election Day. I celebrated by throwing out my back this morning, and lying motionless slumped over the trunk of my car for 10 minutes. I am listed as questionable for this weekend.

The Raiders are 2 for 2 in getting shut out on Monday Night football this year. They’re one for two in kneeing somebody from the other team in the testicles though.

AFC EAST NOTES
*****
New England safety Rodney Harrison could have a torn rotator cuff. We don’t know for sure because the Patriots like to keep that kind of stuff secret. Harrison left the SNF loss to Indy in the first quarter. If he’s out for a prolonged period of time, we can probably expect the New England defense to play the way they did last year when he was injured, which was real, real bad.

Facing the Patriots next week will be the 4-4 NY Jets. The Jets had a bye last week, and need to come up with a road upset here to maintain realistic playoff hopes. The Jets have already met New England once in 06. That was back in Week 2, when the Patriots took a 17-0 lead into the locker room at the half, and held on for a 24-17 win. The Jets had 2 100 yard receivers in that game, Jerricho Cotchery and Lavaernues Coles. If Harrison doesn’t play in this game, expect the Jets to go bombs away again in this meeting.

*****

Willis McGahee suffered a broken rib early in the Bills win over Green Bay last Sunday. It’s not known yet whether he will play in next week’s game at Indy. If he doesn’t go, Anthony Thomas will get the Bills carries. A-Train averaged 4.8 yards on 20 carries in relief of McGahee last week, and could have another big game against Indy’s notoriously bad run defense.

Ronnie Brown has played 24 games with the Dolphins. He’s only been given 20+ carries in 6 of those games. The Dolphins record in those 5 games is 5-1.
