“The CE Goes Bi” -Charles

God damn it. I should have made that joke. Kudos to Chucky for a Kayeism

I’m leaving for the Bahamas in an hour, so I got to make this quick and eventful. Yes, like a date with your mom te he

The Bahamas are actually real close to us down here, so it’s not as big a deal as you’d think. It’s a shorter flight than to the Keyes. Why am I rolling down there? It’s Jen’s Bday so we figured we’d do something big for her.

Ok, on to the important stuff

Kollecto’s Korner

What, you expect a lot after the last KK? Honestly, the only things I’ve been grabbing lately are UK comics. I’m still working on finishing those up. I still need around 50 to 100 of them and they’re a pain to grab. The real early ones and the last thirty to sixty issues are the hardest to come by. Plus, you can buy them fairly cheap (usually around two bucks converted from pounds), but the shipping will kill you. It’s not fun shipping paper weight airmail from the UK.

I have a bunch of stuff on order from BigBad that should be here soon. Plus, I’m on the hunt for the KB (and CVS) Aerialbots. Oh, and that damn new Primus with the three new minicons. I say boo to in store incentives! Yes, they’d be great if they came out when I originally bought the toy. Now Hasbro and Walmart just suck the life blood out of me to get the variant. Now we just have to wait for the redecoed Primus. You know it’s going to happen”¦more than likely with the “Golden Days of Cybertron” repaint we saw someone kitbash at Botcon

Remember all those expensive toys I won awhile back? Yep, the list inludes the G2 Stunticons, ATB Megs, and Green Ramulus. I got them all back from AFA. They look so damn pretty in those plastic containers. I’ll work on the galleries for each one in Kaye’s Kollection Specials.

All is not lost! Our old reviews still exist on this server. However, the links changed on each one. I’ll change the links over and put the review section back up.

From TFW2005, Protoform Prime and Screamer:

Well”¦it’s different. I totally get the whole “asteroid/space ship” thingy, but what the hell is with the wheels on the bottom? Now, if this were Energon/Superlink and they drove around on a goofy ass space bridge I’d get it. I do get that from a playability point of view the asteroid/spaceship thingy needs to roll, but why not make them a bit more inconspicuous? I hate to say this since it will infuriate a bunch of Transfans and possibly Primates, but”¦oh wait, never mind I don’t mind pissing people off”¦anyway, I’m actually digging this concept.

Why you ask? First, I’m totally relieved that Megs will not be some huge Predator looking ugly ass alien with melting armor. That was one of the first things that really got to me about the film. That and the goofy 1980’s Prime flames”¦However, now we can almost assuredly see a Megatron closer to one we might recognize. The second reasoning is that we are now assured two molds of each toy. Yes, I realize it’s just another elaborate way for Mr. Bay and Hasbro to get an extra $8.99-$19.99 out of our pockets. Honestly though”¦would you rather pay that for a different mold or a redeco? The choice is yours. Third and finally, it truly is a new spin on TFs. I’m thrilled that an “adult” Transformers storyline is being put into production. It’ll be nice to watch something not completely tardcore after eating the anime shit that was RiD, Armada, Energon, and finally Cybertron.

On a random side not, I work with a chicky named Melissa at work with a 6 year old step son. The kid thinks I’m awesome because I let him play on my PSP one day when he was dragged to work. So being the good samaritan I am I went and got him deluxe Cybertron Prime. The kid fell in love with TFs to the point he stopped watching all the other anime garbage. Point of the story is his dad came and thanked me. Why? He said that he was so sick of the mind numbing garbage that is Pokemon (or insert any other stupid anime show that fries your brain here), but now his son had something that could challenge him a bit. The moral is that no matter how bad TF: Made in Japan cartoons are, there is always something worse.

Back to the movie”¦

In my mind it’s not G1 and that helps me sleep at night. You can’t even compare the two at this point. It’s like a “based off a true story” tag line. It’s based off a true story, but loosely at best. The same goes for the movie. It’s loosely based off of G1 continuity.

I also have hope for the new cartoon, Heroes. It’s based in North America. That speaks volumes to me. Ha, you kooky Japanese can try and make the mouth move more for your ten words to our one ratio! Yeah, I’ve lost it…it’s cool”¦

So you want a Supreme Screamer and don’t want to pay MSRP? Want the Millennium Falcon SW TF, but hate Star Wars? (The second is obviously me”¦) Then you’re in luck! TRU and Target have announced sales for Black Friday. Screamer is going for 50% off at TRU and MF will be $15 at Tarjay.

The Classics Prime/Megs two pack isn’t even out and it all ready is getting an in store incentive. Yep, they’re strapping some minicons on the top to move it like butta. Wave 2 and the two pack have hit retail, so happy hunting

The new TF animated movie made it’s way into my loving arms this week. I haven’t watched it, but TFormers has some Easter Eggs up.

Reprolabels has some new Alternator stickers, including Prime, Camshaft, and Mirage. They also finally added Powermaster Optimus Prime to the list. That’s one I’ve been waiting on for a long ass time. PM Prime is about the only one left from my Kindergarten Kollection (the one when I was just a little Primate). They seem to be getting a bit more expensive than I remember them. I just dropped $72 for those sets and the Omnibots.

It’s a pretty slow news week. I even went searching for more news and couldn’t find any”¦

K’s Konundrum

Q: How many versions of LioConvoy are there?

A: Seven would be the lucky number:
1. Regular
2. Flash BEAST WARS II The Movie Commemorative redeco
3. Black with blue claws TRU Japan exclusive
4. Black with gold claws TRU Japan exclusive variant
5. Gold Comic Bom-Bom lucky draw limited to 10
6. Black with gray claws Comic Bom-Bom lucky draw limited to 10
7. GalvaLioD-16 Galvatron-purple Comic Bom-Bom lucky draw limited to 50

Let’s see”¦I have Regular, Flash, Black w/blue claws, and GalvaLio. Now I just need the other three”¦

Thanks to BigBot.com, which has a great series of reference lists

This Week’s Q: My Armada rant got me wondering”¦just how many redecos were there in the Armada line? Let’s make this a three parter over the next few weeks. First Armada, then Energon, then Cybertron”¦It’ll be interesting to add them all up.

And in closing arguments”¦

Chucky just wrote me:

Dear Mike,

Just a little something to throw in the CE this week, a teaser for next
week if you will. I got MP Starscream and must say I’m pissed. I don’t
know how I have this luck but mine doesn’t have the face changing
gimmick; it’s the same face on both sides! It’s not even any of the faces
on the box; it looks like a halfway point between a smile and a sneer.

Charles

Only Charles has that type of luck”¦

I think the “halfway smile/sneer” is supposed to be the sneer”¦just not done too well.

I’m off to get through this week. I still have to finish getting the house ready for when Jen’s rents come down for Turkey Day. Chuck is on next week, but have a good T-day since I won’t talk to you Primates until a few days after.

Standing alone while marking out for “Rocklords,”
