Episode 10-9, “Being Polite Sucks Sometimes”

Since we’ve got a Superleg, there’s no Leaderboard this week. I also don’t have too much to say, but let’s get to it.

Travel
The teams traveled from Antananarivo, Madagascar to Helsinki, Finland. None of the teams ended up using the provided tickets to Paris, instead finding flights going through Johannesburg, South Africa. I can’t complain about the bunching, really – they’d already noted that there aren’t a super-huge number of flights to Madagascar, so being on the same flight was inevitable. Still, I wonder how things would’ve played out had Lyn and Karlyn missed the flight.

The difference maker in this leg was the train. The models and beauty queens grabbed a later train, and Rob and Kimberly just missed it, which put them with the Backpack.

Detour – Swamp This or Swamp That
It doesn’t really seem like either task was faster than the other. One thing is certain though – both were probably quite grueling. The beauty queens and models managed to gain a slight advantage, leading to their one hour advantage heading into the Roadblock.

Roadblock – Limestone hunting
I think that the contestants have a new respect for what Dave does for a living with this task. The task could have created maybe ten minutes of separation between teams, but in the long run it didn’t really matter.

Miscellaneous
– It’s been noted elsewhere, but it warrants mentioning. Lyn and Karlyn are hypocrites for cutting in line when they complained – loudly – about Dustin and Kandice allowing the models to cut in line. Karma will probably come back to bite the single moms come Sunday.

– It’s gonna be fun seeing the Cho brothers tackle the forward rappel.

– Because this is the first half of a superleg, everything that they’ve done to this point on this leg will be rendered irrelevant.

That’s all for this week.
