Star Trek will hopefully go where most franchise movies aren’t going these days – in a new and refreshing direction.
William Shatner, easily known and recognized in his starring role as Captain Kirk, recently spoke about the new Star Trek film in the works.
Shatner has spoken to J.J. Abrams, the director of the future film, about whether or not he will reprise his role, if even for a cameo spot. “I don’t know how they’re going to do that. I’m dead…. It’s one of those science-fiction puzzles that needs to be worked out”, he said. But apparently, Abrams is very intent on solving that puzzle.
Abrams is apparently hell-bent on working that puzzle out, according to Shatner.
“J.J. [Abrams] is committed to having Leonard [Nimoy] and I, Leonard and me, in the film”, Shatner said. “It’s easy for Leonard, because Spock’s alive. But I’m dead.”.
Also interesting to note is the fact that Shatner killed rumours that Matt Damon is the favourite to take on the role of the young Captain Kirk in the film.
“I think they’re going to go with unknowns”, he stated.
