TiVo Central – The O.C. – Episode 4-4

Shows

We start off with an awesome opening sequence. Summer goes through the “five stages of grief” in one week. That’s denial about Marissa’s death. Then, angry about her death. Followed by bargaining and wanting to get Marissa back. Next is depression and the crying. Finally we have some anger before finally accepting Marissa’s death. That leads right up to Seth visiting Summer in Rhode Island. Seth sees Summer in the airport and long-time fans of the show will notice here that the song that plays here is the same song that played when Seth and Summer first had sex back in season one. Yes, it looks like Summer is back to her “O.C. self”. Or so it seems.

Ryan and Taylor begin to flirt. Actually, Taylor uses Ryan to try and get a divorce from her French husband. It appears that Taylor can’t resist her “husband”, but still doesn’t want to be married to him. Apparently Taylor’s husband is the “Jedi Master of Sex”. And he likes Taylor’s “peaches”. Yowza! However, in France both parties have to agree to a divorce unless one of them is unfaithful. Taylor’s husband doesn’t want a divorce, so Taylor pretends that she cheated on her husband with Ryan.

Meanwhile, Julie wants to date younger guys. Actually, she says she is swearing off men forever. That is until that “Newport Bittie” Taran, from season one, tells her about the wonders of dating younger men. This leads to the two “COUGARS” on the prowl at some bar going after younger men thanks to some Tequila shots!

Sandy tries and find some guys to hang out with. This is funny Sandy Cohen stuff. It’s times like these that you really realize that Sandy IS Seth’s dad. That’s where he gets it from.

Kaitlin and Luke’s younger brothers also manage to get into trouble by getting some fake id’s. Kaitlin gets into a club, but the “Luke Twins” don’t as the bouncer “bounces” them. Oh wait, that’s the same club that Julie and Taran are at. Kaitlin seems her mother hanging upside down while dancing with some guy and that can only mean trouble later.

But back to Summer. It appears that maybe she is “finding herself” by being an activist. Maybe she is the NEW summer now and forever. She may be changing, but Seth still supports her. At least for now. I do love the old Summer, though. The one that was in this episode for the first 15 minutes. So I hope she is not gone forever.

The biggest surprise to me in this episode was Ryan coming back to help Taylor. I know that was coming, but the fact that he puts an AWESOME liplock on her blew me away. Yes, the seeds are planted. Could their be love between those two in the future? I’m sure Taylor will start flirting with him like she did with Seth last year. She will probably mistake Ryan’s kindness for flirting like she did last year with Seth. However, I actually think they could work together. We need a new “Core Four” and Taylor fits right in. Taylor has turned into the opposite of Marissa, so this could work better.

Sir Linksalot: The O.C.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
