2006/2007 TV Season Ratings Report – Week 9 (11/13/2006-11/19/2006)

News

This week it seemed that EVERYONE was watching television. We had some MONSTER ratings for more than one show. In fact, the top five shows this week got better numbers than the #1 shows the past few weeks. We still have some questions to answer, though. First, would ABC dominate easily again this week over CBS for #1? Would Grey’s Anatomy bounce back to become the #1 show again this week? And most important, how would professional football prove that it’s the most-watched sport on TV and show that it can easily change the outcome of any week in a blink of an eye? We’ll answer those questions and more this week!

Lets start off with Dancing with the Stars. The finale was the most-watched show this season! It was enough to launch DWTS to #1 for this week and overall. I don’t think anyone will touch that show until January, when American Idol could possibly beat that. We’ll see, though.

Oh, how have the mighty fallen? Grey’s Anatomy is still getting watched by a lot of people. But this week it got BLOWB AWAY by CSI on Thursday night. That really shocked me, since the margin of victory was so large. I have not enjoyed that show that much over the last few weeks and I guess everyone else agrees with me. It drops all the way down to a tie for 4th with Desperate Housewives.

CBS comes back big time to take over #1 from ABC and tie things back up for the season. CBS was helped by CSI. But the reason CBS was able to overcome the MONSTER ratings of Dancing with the Stars this week was the equally MONSTER numbers of NFL Football on Sunday night! The Cowboys vs. the Colts was enough to launch the overun and 60 Minutes into 2nd place this week. Impressive and that proves that football can change everything. Take that baseball!

As for the overall rankings. It’s more of the same. ABC has Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Dancing with the Stars, and Lost to fall back on. CBS has their CSI series along with some Sunday Night Football and their consistent lineup. And NBC is just able to compete thanks to Deal or No Deal! Things should get even more interesting from now until the end of the year.

Sir Linksalot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
