Jagr and Selanne reach milestones, Hitchcock is back

500 and 600

This past week Teemu Selanne and Jaromir Jagr reached pinnacles in their respective careers as they reached career goal milestones.

Selanne scored his 500th career goal against the AV’s becoming the 36th player to do so and only the second Finnish player to ever reach that mark. He and the great Jari Kurri are the only two.

Jagr on the other hand became the 16th player in NHL history to reach 600 goals and he plans on giving the puck to his mother….yay.

I doubt Shanahan plans on doing that with his 600th career goal puck.

Hitchcock hired in Columbus

Ken Hitchcock was picked up by the Columbus Bluejackets and then proceeded to lose to his old team 3-2 in Philadelphia.

Hitchcock will most likely do a better job in Columbus as the Jackets aren’t going to be hunting for the Cup any time soon. I’m sure he’ll work Rick Nash to no ends on becoming a better two way player instead of just looking for a goal.

As for Sergei Federov, he’s long been over needing a kick in the ass to get moving and play at his best level consistently. Mainly because it looks like it’s just never going to happen. The guy will give you 20-30 goals as he’s not over the hill *yet* but hasn’t shown the capability to carry a team on his own since about a 2 month period in Detroit back in 1995.

Good luck, Hitch!
