TiVo Central – Grey's Anatomy – Episode 3-9

Shows

This episode was a little better this week. The main reason was the focus off of the relationship of Derek and Meredith. It was still there, but the main focus was on the Cristina and Burke relationship. Eventhough, I don’t like Cristina her relationship with Burke is nothing but “bright and shiny”, which is a good thing.

Lets start there then. The secret is out. The whole episode Cristina was feeling guilty about keeping Burke’s secret. But really once she continued to help Burke, it became their secret. They were going down together or not at all.

Despite the fact that people other than George slowly began to finally see what was really going on, it wasn’t really until Webber talked to Burke that Burke began to feel guilty and wanted this whole thing to stop. Cristina still wanted to continue on with her helping him in surgery after surgery. Webber wanted to finally retire and have Burke take over. Burke couldn’t do that with this big secret hanging over his head. So when Burke told Cristina that he didn’t need her anymore, I was fully behind him. Cristina thought it was personal. That he didn’t need her in his life anymore. That wasn’t it at all. Burke was tired of keeping this secret and he needed to finally do this on his own to see if could do it. Cristina didn’t understand that.

Cristina then being hurt by Burke and going to Webber and telling him about Burke was totally out of line. She made it personal. I believe that Burke would have told Webber the truth himself, if he couldn’t do it. So what Cristina did was selfish. Yes, she helped him all the way through it. But most of the time she pushed him into doing it. Burke was scared, but I believe he was finally ready to tell the truth. Cristina was completely wrong here. She couldn’t separate business from personal when she should have. So shame on her and good for Burke for slamming that door in her face.

Now the thing that started this off was George and his dad. He knew Burke’s secret and didn’t want him to operate on his dad. So he calls in Dr. Hahn from the other Seattle hospital. The same woman doctor that Burke stole the heart for Denny from. I don’t blame George for wanting the best to operate on his dad, but some of things he did, especially with Izzie was out of line. It wasn’t Izzie’s place to talk to George’s dad about who should operate on him and stuff. But George didn’t have to bring up bad memories of Denny and shove it in Izzie’s face. That was not very friendly. I think he knew that later and I think Izzie knows that George is going through a tough time with his dad. So I think they can get past that, but it certainly wasn’t cool. So boo to George for that.

Back to Meredith and Derek. Actually, lets go to Derek and Burke. I didn’t like that Burke put the blame on Derek for his surgery. It’s like Burke sometimes wants to blame other people for his “problem”, and then other times he blames himself. It gets frustrating really. But it wasn’t Derek’s fault. Honestly, I’m glad that we didn’t see much of Meredith and Derek being “bright and shiny”. Meredith’s little giddy laugh got annoying. Meredith is best as “dark and twisty”.

That’s what you get when everyone in the hospital is close friends. You get problems when things go wrong. True friends will stay friends after bad times. So it will be interesting to see who really are friends and who really aren’t. Things made a sharp upward turn this week. Lets see if they can keep it going.

Sir Linksalot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
