The Cybertronian Enquirer 11.27.06

We’ll. I’m ten pounds heavier and tired of turkey already. Hopefully everyone had an eventful Turkey Day in combination with the long weekend. Yes, I know not everyone got that luscious long weekend (trust me, car sales people don’t). For those who didn’t”¦upgrade

I had four long ass days with Jen’s parents here. Let’s just say among Thanksgiving Day, South DBeach, Monkey Jungle, and the Gator Farm/Airboat ride, that I had an eventful few days.

As for me, I’m just getting ready for Xmas. I have most of my gifts already, but there’re still a few elusive ones. I also go Xmas shopping for myself. I do that “put together a list” thing for everyone, but then end up buying it myself. Like Thruster from Beast Wars II”¦

Now it’s time for the fun stuff. I have enough stuff to throw up on eBay, so keep checking eBay starting on next Sunday. The white Headmaster will be in the featured portion, so you should find it pretty easily. I’ll write the descriptions like my column, so they should be fairly humorous. Well, at least in my mind”¦

Here’s what I know I have:

Rare White Headmaster Kirk
Gold Disk Pin from Botcon
UK Transformer Comics
Huge Random Parts lot
Club Comics
And TWO”¦count ‘em TWO sets of the Universe Aerialbots

More on that in a moment”¦

Kollecto’s Korner

Ok, moment is up. So I went into Big Lots today because Jen wanted Xmas decorations at low, low prices. My little Transfan brain went into overdrive after remember the “KB Exclusive” Aerialbots might be here. I used my Hebrew feature and sniffed out the prize”¦four sets of Universe Aerialbots. Yep, two for me, two for you! I’m going to throw them up on eBay with the rest of the random nonsense I have. How do they look? They’re very basic like all micromasters, but the red, white, and black color scheme works. I think Skydive and Silverbolt had their names mixed up since Skydive’s vehicle mode is almost identical to G1 Silverbolt’s. They were able to use four out of the five original names, minus Slingshot. The new additions are Storm Jet, a space shuttle similar to G1 Blastoff, and Ro-Tor, a crappy looking helicopter.

Now it’s story time. You may or may not know that these cute little buggers are actually repainted versions of G1 Sixwing, one of the Micromaster combiners along with Sixtrain, Sixturbo, and Sixbuilder. These guys were all made into Universe redecos of Rail Racer and G1 homages of Defensor and Devestator, respectively. Bigbot has up a translated tech spec for the original figures.

That’s about it for new toys. Classics Mirage and Kiss Player Rodimus are chillin’ in my Big Bad pile of loot. I’m waiting for Jetfire to hit and then have it all sent at one time. Jetfire”¦cream”¦

TNN Headlines
The news articles and pictures come from multiple sources including Transfandom.com, TFW2005, eBay, FantoFan, The All Spark, TFormers, Big Bot, Seibertron, among others. Give these sites a look if you get a chance.

The TF Club site has up pictures of their two new exclusives: Astrotrain and Airrazor. You can’t officially pre-order them until Friday. Boy, why do I smell a Nemesis Prime situation all over again? I really just hope their computers can take it this time”¦and they can order more. But what the hell”¦it’s not like I didn’t pay a hundo for a couple Nem Primes”¦I’m all for the capitalistic market.

Update: So Angie from Master Collector already called me. I had sent an email over the weekend asking to reserve two of each figure for me. Done and Done. Astrotrain goes for about $90 and Airrazor goes for about $40. No hassle, no problems. Angie called, took my credit card info and boom, I have exclusive figures in February. Plus, she did it with great Southern Hospitality!

Enough rambling on about toys I’ll get by hook or by crook. What else is in the news?

Oh, MP-05 you say?

It’s a G1 fan’s wet dream gone horribly wrong then right then it took a twist and gave them a donkey punch. What dat mean? Anyway, new scans of Megs came out and I have to say”¦I’m a bit under whelmed. Why? Take a look:

What do we see wrong with this picture? First, the gun is a bit large and G1ish. Duh, isn’t that the point? No jackleg, the point is for it to be a homage to the G1 Anime figure, not to take his G1 toy design and make it a foot and a half tall. I’d buy a Korean knock off if that were the case. Second”¦what’s with the damn chicken legs? Yeah, yeah, they need to be something like that due to the gun design. Dude, make some hinges and give him some beefy legs. Megatron needs to do some lunges or something

Regardless of my two complaints, it is a Masterpiece Megatron and the best G1 anime homage created. His flaws may also be corrected by his release judging from the fact Screamer got a couple face lifts. His accessories are also nice touches. The first is the gun he used in the movie to finish off Prime. Random, but cool. The second is Kremzeek! Nice, but I hope he gets painted unlike Dr. Acrheville. The third is the mace that Megs used”¦once was it? Yeah, the Sherman Dam incident. The last appears to be the “sword” he used in the movie too. That or it may be homage to his GunRobo roots by coming with his original sword.

Update: It is the sword he used to slice and dice Prime in the movie. Oops, my bad for thinking too much into the historical references of the TF line

Now, the issue is that we can’t sell realistic guns in the states without the “bright orange tip.” Big Bad is even selling a “modified” version of Megs with the tip. Does anyone else remember the big scare when Megatron was reissued by Takara? Everyone was going ape shit then too. He’ll have to be transformed and shipped over otherwise we can’t sell him! Now, it may just be because he fell under the radar, but you can buy the reissue Megs just about anywhere online. Plus, he’ll be sealed and in mint condition. The craze will die and you’ll be able to grab him no problem. You should just go to eBay. You know some shady ass Japanese guy will be selling it on there mint in box.

I just emailed Joel at Big Bad and Digital Toys to see if the orange tip could be removed without damaging the figure. That would be a plus”¦

Update:They both emailed me back with a big “Nope.” The orange will either be glued on or painted on.

Revoltech Convoy gets a redco into”¦Ultra Magnus!

I’m shocked”¦no really”¦

TFW2005 has compiled all the movie toy pictures including a few new ones like Jazz and Bumblebee.

Ain’t it Cool News also broke the first pic of CGI Scorponok:

I really hope those two big goofy eye looking things aren’t his eyes”¦

Stylin Online has up a ton of TF shirts and merchandise. Go dork out”¦you know you want to

K’s Konundrum

Q: How many redecos were there in the Armada line

A: 24 plus 6″¦let me explain:

These were all direct line redecos of either previously produced figures with slight retools or of straight redecos from figures within the Armada line:

Road Assault Mini-Con Team
Road Wrecker Mini-Con Team
Adventure Team (redeco)
Requiem Blaster/Space Team (redeco)
Kmart exclusive Jet Prime
Powerlinx Demolishor
Supercon Nemesis Prime
Cheetor
Powerlinx Hot Shot
Powerlinx Thrust
Powerlinx Cyclonus
Predacon
Powerlinx Red Alert
Powerlinx Jetfire
Powerlinx Optimus Prime
Skywarp
Airazor
Rhinox
Terrorsaur
Galvatron
Thundercracker
Night Attack Team
Sea Team redeco
Air Assault Team

Now, there were a few questionable ones in my mind. These were the ones that came out as Store exclusives, but did not directly say “Armada.” Sure, they might have been in boxes similar to the Armada toys, but they only had the tag of “Robots in Disguise.”

KBtoys exclusive Megatron Megabolt
KBtoys exclusive Jhiaxus
Walmart Yellow Landfill
Urban Camo Ruination giftset
KBtoys exclusive Destructicon Scourge
KBtoys exclusive Destructicon Bludgeon

This Week’s Q: How many redecos came out during the Energon days?

And in closing arguments”¦

‘Tis the season to be Jolly folks so have some fun. Go buy your sweetie a Transformer or two for Xmas/Chanukah/Happy Friggin’ Holidays gift. Then make sweet Primate/Transfan love by the fire place. I leave you with a final thought for the evening: Do you think Transfans who role play make mechanical Transformer transforming noises during intercourse?

Yeah baby, call me Megatron! Stop me, no matter what the cost! Oh my fusion cannon is about to blow”¦oh KE KA KAA KOO!

The weird ass shit I think of”¦
