Who's Who in the DCU

SUPER IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!(again)

The good news is that the column is still going to be around.

The bad news is that because of a colossal misunderstanding my IP email accounted was deleted before I could transfer everything (or anything for that matter) over to another email account.

As a result our rather impressive catalogue of “rainy day” questions has now dropped to nil. Basically, I got two emails last week and the message boards. That’s it. We’re talking “worst case scenario” here.

So consider this a desperate call for more emails. If you’re reading this column, you need to send us an email.

And now back to the regularly scheduled column.

Tim, I’m so irked. I really wanted a Wii, but I don’t feel like paying EBay prices. What should I do?

I’m not saying that you should beat up little kids on their way to school who have their Wiis to show off for show and tell. I’m just saying that you could probably take ‘em. Even two or three at a time if necessary.

What I Read Last Week (Catching up Edition)

52 Week Twenty-Nine – Tim I enjoyed this issue more than you did. I loved Thanksgiving on the island. I loved the JSA vs. Infinity Inc stuff. And the John Henry stuff was cool too. I liked it tons.

There’s no reason that I should have not liked this installment, but I still sort of did. I feel very guilty about it.

Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #24 – What a tease with the Mon-El stuff. But using Phantom Girl and Saturn Girl in the way they did was brilliant. And Supergirl’s bluff was funny.

JSA Classified #19 – My favorite read of the week. I love Scott Beatty. I gush more in my review.

I didn’t love it like you loved it, but I enjoyed it. I’m a big Doctor Mid-nite fan, so that helps and cameos by the likes of Argus never hurt either. The art was not to hot though. I knew it was Rags, but if it did not say so on the cover, you easily could’ve convinced me that a lesser penciller was just imitating his style.

Red Menace #1 – Kind of stumbled out of the gate in terms of story, but the art is very impressive. I dish more in my review.

Omega Men #2 – Wait are we actually addressing the whole “Lianna stabs Kyle” scene from years ago when Kyle was the star of the Green Lantern title? And it features John Stewart? This might be the best GL book that’s not really a GL book.

Green Lantern Corps #6 – Eh, I give props for Gibbons introducing Ranx into actual GL continuity, but the pacing of the story seems way off. We get one scene on Thanagar? And a few superfluous Kougar scenes? Boo. Still I really do kind of appreciate Ranx’s appearance, given the prophecy.

Checkmate #8 – This title is like the best TV show I ever read. This episode was way reminiscent of Sleeper Cell and the recruitment issue was mirrored by a similarly themed episode of The Unit. Still this book never disappoints.

It was good, but it was probably the weakest installment of the book since issue #1.

Escapists #5 – This was the saddest cliffhanger ever. I’m so genuinely worried about Denny. I’m really shocked.

Shadowpact #7 – Almost interesting and yet this book is on the verge of getting cut. I’d kill for a regular penciller.

Action Comics #845 – This issue made me a believer in Bizarro. And while this issue might sound absurd if you explained it to someone, it really clicked with me. I totally suspended my disbelief. I’m pretty sold at this point.

Wonder Woman #3 – Tim, I’m with you on Circe making sense. For an issue that took forever to hit the stands, the art looked kind of rushed to my eyes. But I enjoyed it all the same.

Blue Beetle #9 – Nice to get some background on Peacemaker. Nice to see Jamie’s parents coping with their son’s new responsibilities and taking it in stride. Rouleau needs to be the steady fill in artist. I love this book.

The Creeper #4 – The fill in artist killed the mood for me. The book didn’t even read right without Justiniano and Wong. What happened to miniseries having one art team? How did we get to this point?

X Factor #13 – I loved the original. I don’t remember everything, but I know I loved it. And this felt like a sequel, it didn’t really live up the hype or the original. It felt like a retread. If the book hadn’t been so hyped I might have enjoyed it more.

Tales of the Unexpected #2 – I actually read the Dr. 13 when the issue dropped, but I just read the main story. Battle’s art is growing on me. I don’t really dig Lapham’s story. It seems way too much emphasis on atmosphere and not too much on development. But the back up rocks.

See, I felt the opposite on the art, like issue #2 was a step down. Huh. Anyway, I don’t really like this largely ineffective take on the Spectre (he can’t be proactive, only murderers can be punished by the Spirit of Vengeance), but you are dead on when it comes to Dr. 13. It has a crazy, every tool in the box feel that still has managed to not spin out of control. Great art on that part too.

Nightwing #126 – I almost got interested in this book. Wolfman gets props for reintroducing JJ to the DCU. I was worried about the kid Dick was giving advice too. I really hope that we don’t enter sidekick territory. The mystery villain intrigues me. This has been my favorite of Wolfman’s issues.

OMAC #5 – Yet another fill in on a mini? And again it’s distracting. Magno’s art is good, but it’s not Guedes work. The issue felt choppy, but the transference of the OMAC juice was cleverly done, and all the more reason to practice safe sex.

Hellblazer #224-225 – Wow, Mina’s work reads so much better in clumps. I dug John’s attitude toward the whole deal and what made him turn the corner. Manco’s art is solid, I’m eager for his next project.

Un Gajje saves the day!

Hey, Mathan, want to play a game with next week’s column in which we guess how many of those listed as killed this past year in the newest Wizard will stay dead?

First off a bit of disclosure; Tim and I know for a fact that none of those characters are going to stay dead because we’ve pitched and DC greenlit our 7 X 7 Soldiers of Championship.

He may have just slept with my wife”¦two years in the future, but even Grant Morrison is shaken by the genius of 7X7 Soldiers of Championship.

This was how I originally envisioned the story going down (aka: what happens when you don’t send me questions and I have to fill space.) It’s a twelve issue maxiseries.

It would being with the May/December romance between Lois Lane of Earth 2 and Jonah MacCarthy while Jim Corrigan tracked down Mick Wong. In the beginning it’s typical romantic comedy while the youthful Jonah courts Lois. Eventually he wins her over with a trip to Atlantis. While Lois and Jonah in Atlantis they bump into Vulko and Koryak who tell them that they’ve got to seek out Nabu who not only needs their help, but will grant them three wishes, each!

Meanwhile in Gotham, Jim Corrigan asks Crime Doctor, Black Mask and the Ventriloquist for help in finding Mick Wong, who has stolen the “doomsday’s foot” (a rabbit device). However Mick is unaware that he has it, as he thinks it’s only a vintage tamagotchi. Try as does, Corrigan can’t get the trio of criminal to aid him. Though they’ve decided to find Wong and get the doomsday’s foot for themselves and enlist Orca and Charaxes to track him down. Sadly those two really stick out and Wong evades them easily.

At this point the Wong/Corrigan story moves along much like Midnight Run. Stallion and the Trigger Twins get on the case however they realize that they are in fact triplets separated at birth. That reconciliation and the need for reevaluation of their lives prompt their exit and allows Corrigan and Wong to evade capture, again.

While trying to lay low in Las Vegas (due to Corrigan taking the slogan “what happens here, stays here” way too literally) Corrigan and Wong bump into Vulko, Koryak, Lois and Jonah who are on their quest for Nabu. After a wild night at Lure a team up is proposed.

Next everyone wakes up the morning after and immediately regrets the hasty decision. Suddenly Punch and Spook (in between their matinee and evening show at the Rio) burst into the room. Punch and Spook are overwhelmed by the good guys, who reluctantly agree that things might go smoother if they band together. They leave the hotel, but Corrigan never returns the room key, which hints at his evil nature.

Tracking down a lead in Star City Lois goes undercover in a Mary Kay club for the super powered, one of Roulette’s other ventures. Lynx, Magpie Star Sapphire III, Looker, Pantha, Trajectory, Jade and Mongal are all trying on various products like “radioactive cover up” and “Oan eye shadow.” The ladies gab away and Lois bags some “Nth metal nail polish” before calling the whole thing a bust.

While Lois at her party, Koryak, Mick, Jonah and Vulko split up. Johan and Vulko attend a speed dating event where they bump into Peacemaker II, Geist, Alex Luthor and Geist. Vulko is literally a fish out of water but gets a kick out of the surface customs.

Koryak and Mick visit a support group for minority characters where they rub elbows with Technocrat , Super Chief II, and Bushido, where they learn a powerful fact about their existence; minority characters tend to get killed off or worse, banished into limbo. Koryak and Mick leave with a new seriousness.

Eventually the six reunite and compare notes. They realize that all signs point to Opal. However their appearance in Star City drew quite a bit of attention to them. As a result Superboy and Booster Gold, with a reality TV crew in tow, are now trying to capture Mick Wong, Superman is trying to track them down to reconcile with Lois, and Terra Man is trying to contact Vulko and Koryak to interview for his monthly eco-e-newsletter.

It’s a long trip but the leads manager to stay one step ahead of their pursuers and arrive in Opal just in time to witness a meta fight club set up by Major Disaster at a way to finally decide if he was a good guy or a bad guy. On the good guy side was Ballistic, Nightblade, Razorsharp and Wildebeest. On the bad guy side was Baron Blitzkrieg, Mongrel, Psycho Pirate, Rag Doll and Spellbinder.

The pursuers drop their pursuit and enter the fray trying to tip the scales in the favor of the good guys. Just as the heroes are on the verge of saving the day Air Wave II arrives and begins talking to the doomsday’s foot. It turns out that it is indeed a tamagotchi only instead of tech inside its Nabu! Nabu comes out and grants wishes galore, which set up the sequel.

That’s how I saw it unfolding originally but Tim and I compromised on 49 two-issue weekly miniseries shipping over the course of two weeks. That’s over eight years worth of comics in two weeks. We call it our Magnum Opus.

My mind is literally blown by our awesomeness. And, coming August of 2007, yours will be too.

But enough rambling, let’s answer the question.

Air Wave II – This Hal Jordan died in Infinite Crisis #4, but if there’s one thing that we know for sure, it’s that “Hal Jordan” never stays dead. His death wasn’t definitive. I’m guessing it’s just a matter of time before the guy reconstitutes himself.
Likelihood of resurrection 99%

I’m not entirely convinced that Air Wave is really dead, strictly speaking. He went out when he was in radio wave (or whatever wave) form and thus, I think it is merely a matter of reincorporating himself. In the world of comics, that’s a snap. However, Air Wave is hardly a fan favorite so no one might think to even bother with it.
Likelihood of resurrection 73%

Fel Andar – This guy’s dead as a doornail. He’s never coming back. He was a band-aid on the convoluted history of Hawkman and his death seals that chapter forever. Plus his death was kind of heroic.
Likelihood of resurrection 1%

I’m bumping it up just a bit because it seems there is nothing DC likes more than mucking with Hawkman continuity.
Likelihood of resurrection 8%

Ballistic – Dude was vaporized by Superboy-Prime in Infinite Crisis #7. To me “vaporized” sounds rather permanent.
Likelihood of resurrection .5%

I’m inclined to agree with your sentiment and your rating.
Likelihood of resurrection .5%

Baron Blitzkrieg – Equally vaporized by SP, he’s dead but I’m guessing he’ll get a successor. So I’m going to say 50% because he won’t return to life, but the name will.
Likelihood of resurrection 50%

The current Baron is dead dead dead. But I’ll grant for the legacy possibility.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant
Likelihood of legacy: 70%

Black Mask – He was killed by Catwoman in the final chapter of their dramatic saga. His death was definitive.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

I’m disagreeing here. Black Mask is sort of cockroach who can’t seem to stay dead. Plus, there is the whole Superboy smacking reality thing.
Likelihood of resurrection: 30%

Booster Gold – Man, the guy is not dead. I know he’s not dead. You should know he’s not dead. Don’t be fooled.
Likelihood of resurrection 100%

I figured Booster was a shoo-in for resurrection, but as time goes on my commitment to that is wavering. That costs him ten percent.
Likelihood of resurrection: 90%

Breach – I loved the guy. I loved his book. But he’s redundant with Cap Atom in the picture and he never really fit in the DCU anyway. I’d love for him to return so I’ll keep hope alive.
Likelihood of resurrection 3%

For some reason, even after reading of his demise in the Wizard list, I still read that scene completely differently. To me, it looks like he gets he’s disappearing into some sort of dimensional rift. In other words, I don’t think Breach is dead to resurrect. But the chances of ever seeing him again? Well, that’s pretty low.
Likelihood of appearing ever again: 5% (It goes up by at 20% if I ever get a job at DC)

Bushido – This poor clichéd Asian character deserves to rest in peace. He was cut in half by SP. There’s a chance he’ll come back as a zombie.
Likelihood of resurrection 20%

He made two appearances before he was cut down and the man who created him was the one who did it. That’s not a good track record for resurrection.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Charaxes – He was lame when he was Killer Moth, but the whole Underworld Unleashed thing really backfired and his change never really took.
Likelihood of resurrection 2%

The Underworld Unleashed mistake is gone gone gone. However, he has already been replaced by a new Killer Moth.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant
Likelihood of legacy: 100%

Jim Corrigan – “Jim Corrigan” has died a couple times. He became the Spectre then went to Heaven. Then a new Corrigan was introduced and he was killed. It seems to me that you can’t keep a good (or bad for that matter) Jim Corrigan down. I’m guessing at least the name will return in the near future. Maybe as Eclipso?
Likelihood of resurrection 80%

I completely disagree on this. The only way I see Corrigan ever coming back is as Spectre again and that’s not quite a resurrection because he’d still be a ghost there.
Likelihood of resurrection: 4%
Likelihood of being the living dead again: 50%

The Crime Doctor – This guy died to save his daughter. Kind of noble, right? I think that his Crime Doctor is dead, but the concept is too cool to stay down for long.
Likelihood of resurrection 75%

I think you are probably right on this one. The only way I see this Crime Doctor still kicking it is if some writer in a few years does not really bother to research the character since he is a bit obscure. The idea and the name is too good to completely disappear though.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant
Likelihood of legacy: 65%

Geist – Another New Blood character. With death he’ll be a punch line no more.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Geist’s power is go invisible. So, did he get incinerated or did he just go invisible and hide in that one moment? Something to think about, eh?
Likelihood of resurrection: 10%

Mongal – Man, I loved Mongal. But decapitation is pretty permanent. I’m way going to miss her.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Not. At. All.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Jade – Her death kind of sucked, and not in the “I liked her character” kind of way. The situation and plotting of her death was lame. And since Kyle got some of her essence I’m guessing that her resurrection is as simple as a séance between Obsidian, Brain Wave, Alan Scott and Kyle getting together to reminisce. Plus how many of Kyle’s girlfriends have stayed dead?
Likelihood of resurrection 85%

She definitely went out like a chump, so I’d love to see her back. Oddly enough, her legacy has already been carried on (albeit short term) by a member of Lutho’s super team in 52.
Likelihood of resurrection: 70%
Likelihood of legacy: 100%

KGBeast – Oh this relic of the Cold War needed to die. He tried to kill Reagan for goodness sakes. Dating like that is a surefire death warrant. But maybe someone else will adopt the name.
Likelihood of resurrection 10%

I liked 10 Nights of the Beast a whole hell of a lot, but after that, poor KG has been ever slipping in quality. I think, since he is an outdated concept and name, he is gone gone gone. I wouldn’t mind seeing a similar character with a similarly silly (but more topical) name in the future though.
Likelihood resurrection: 3%

Koryak – I loved Koryak. I cared about Koryak from his first appearance on. And I should have been worried when he reappeared, but I wasn’t. As much as I want him to return, I probably care more about him than most creators, which instills me with no faith.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

I wouldn’t even pretend to know or care much about this character.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

This guy looks kind of like Supreme Powe’s Nuke, huh? Anyway, you may be asking yourself why, out of all the people that died this year, I’d use pics of Technocrat and”¦

Lois Lane of Eath-2 – I want to believe she’s actually on the Earth-2 that was hinted at in JLA #0 along with Wally and some other folks. However she might really be dead. But I don’t think she is. But I’m not sure.
Likelihood of resurrection 50%

Arrgh”¦it hurts me to acknowledge this Earth-2, multiverse nonsense, but I’m inclined to agree.
Likelihood of resurrection 50%

Looker – Lame concept, lame character. Only Aaron Cameron misses her. She’ll never return.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Again, I point to her power which includes a psychic shield. Plus, she was next to Breach when it all happened and we know how I feel about that. Finally, Zauriel was caught in all that and he is still running around. Granted, his power seems to be to come back from the dead these days, but still. So, I think Looker is in the same dimension, on the same earth, whatever, as Breach. Again though, appearing is still a problem.
Likelihood of appearing ever again: 10%

Lynx – She was killed in Robin which leaves little room for a resurrection.
Likelihood of resurrection 9%

She’s so very gone.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Alexander Luthor – I’d love for the guy to return, but he was killed by the Joker in a great scene. Plus his body turned up. I miss him, but there’s a chance that he’ll come back via a Qwardian/Anti Matter explanation.
Likelihood of resurrection 17%

You could be right, but I’m hoping not. It was a good capper to his life and a fitting one.
Likelihood of resurrection: 8%

Magpie – She was killed as part of cleaning out of Gotham’s underworld. She only had maybe four or five appearances before she died. She’ll not return nor get a successor.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Magpie strikes me as the type of character a Batman writer will throw into an issue 4 or 5 years from now because he doesn’t realize she’s dead and no one else at DC at the time will remember it either. I’m not sure if that counts as a resurrection, per se, but the effect is the same.
Likelihood of resurrection: 45%

Major Disaster – I wasn’t sure that he was dead, but apparently he got his neck snapped by Superboy-Prime. However that doesn’t mean he’s really dead. I could see him return as a paraplegic villain who’s bitter that his heroic friends weren’t there for him when he needed them.
Likelihood of resurrection 60%

Somehow, I cannot remember this at all. I have to look at those issues again. Anyway, given Disaster Underworld Unleashed bargain, I think resurrection or returning as some sort of demonic version of himself is pretty high.
Likelihood of resurrection: 40%
Likelihood of coming back as evil undead: 73%

Jonah McCarthy – This guy has a full name and he died in a first issue. Despite Checkmate resurrecting Rick Flag, I’m saying Jonah is staying dead.
Likelihood of resurrection 1%

I’d agree. Plus he’s a Rucka pet character and Rucka is the one that offed him. It’s like Bushido all over again.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Oh thank goodness she’s gone.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Mongrel – Vaporized by Superboy-Prime. And we’re all the better for it.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Terrible name, but he was Vietnamese and African American which would have made him a great hero for the Washington, DC area (Vietnamese are the fastest growing populations in the DC area and most of DC is majority African American). I guess that has nothing to do with anything, it just strikes me as a missed opportunity. Short of me getting a job at DC though, I doubt we’ll see that idea realized.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Nabu – The dude is magic. And it’s going to be really hard to have Dr. Fate without Nabu. Didn’t they kind of try that once with Jared Stevens? It’s only a matter of time before Nabu returns.
Likelihood of resurrection 100%

I agree with you completely. Fate just ain’t Fate without Nabu.
Likelihood of resurrection 100%

Nightblade – Man, Superboy-Prime really like vaporizing New Bloods. If only we could get him to set his sights on Youngbloods.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

An Asian American martial artist? I’m sure DC will miss him greatly because of his uniqueness.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Orca – James Robinson did us all a service by killing off Orca in Face the Face. How did this character get past the editor?
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Oh, Larry Hama”¦yeah, I can’t even pretend I miss him.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Pantha – Remember what I said about decapitation? It goes double when your head rolls off panel. But she’s a Titan who bonded with a teammate Red Star, which means he could try to pull a Robin and clone her.
Likelihood of resurrection 15%

I just don’t see it happening.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Peacemaker III – Yeah, we’ve already got a Peacemaker in the DCU. He was shot in the back by Prometheus. Prometheus, the guy who was Hush’s lackey! Dead and staying that way.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Dude’s already been replaced!
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant
Likelihood of legacy: 100%

Punch – This might have been the most shocking death of the year for me, and I’m being 100% honest. How do you break up the most successful of criminal marriages and leave a child fatherless? DC is against family values. And not even I can think of how Punch could come back. But his wife could replace him the way Golden Glider replaced Chillblaine, with a revolving cast of surrogates.
Likelihood of resurrection 33%

Goodbye Punch, I hardly knew ye. I do think it is a shame he’s gone though. I dug the idea of a crazy criminal couple whose marriage was stronger than most sane non-criminals. None of which, unfortunately, points to him coming back, in my opinion. I can see your Chillblaine idea though, given Jewelee behavior shortly after Punc’s death.
Likelihood of resurrection: 11%
Likelihood of legacy: 20%

Psycho Pirate – A pretty graphic death, but I think he’s going to stay dead. Harbinger remembered the pre Crisis DCU. She’s dead. Pariah did too. He’s dead. Alex Luthor also did. He’s dead. Almost every character who really shined brightly in the original Crisis is dead. Plus the novelty of remember what it was like before is way gone. He’s dead, but the concept will probably return.
Likelihood of resurrection 60%

This is the second Psycho Pirate, right? From Animal Man? Anyway, point being, the mantel is clearly transferable. I’m not sure Psycho Pirate II will ever darken DC’s stage again, but that mask will pop up once more.
Likelihood of resurrection: 10%
Likelihood of legacy: 75%

Rag Doll – I liked the Rag Doll. He was creepy in his Starman appearances. But with the weird one running around in Secret Six there’s really no room for two Rag Dolls in the DCU. This one’s staying dead.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Well, he did die once and return, so I’m inclined he could pull such a stunt again. Not likely, but possible. And he already has a legacy running about.
Likelihood of resurrection: 15%
Likelihood of legacy: 100%

“¦Looker. And then you might wonder, is he punishing us? Answer? Yes. Now send us questions, dammit!

Razorsharp – Done. Dead. Toast. Never to return.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

I’m unclear how her power, making her arms into blades, helps her with her hobby/occupation, computer hacking, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one. Perhaps why DC offed her? I can’t say for sure, but it is a bit of a shame that this is another dead female hero and no one is complaining. Where is her Batcave Monument, huh, DC? She hung with Robin a bit, right?
Anyway”¦
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant

Spellbinder II – Spellbinder is going to remain dead. However this was the second Spellbinder, so chances are there’ll be a third version at some point.
Likelihood of resurrection 18%

Can’t Spellbinder warp reality or at least what you see as reality? Never count out a magic person, I say.
Likelihood she’s actually dead: 35%
Likelihood of resurrection if she is: 8%
Likelihood of appearing ever again if she isn’t: 22%
Likelihood of legacy is she is: 65%

The Spook – Wow, there sure were a lot of decapitations this year. No one’s going to miss this guy. But I could see him returning as an actual ghost.
Likelihood of resurrection 55%

This is one I would put in the same category as Magpie. Resurrected largely by accident.
Likelihood of resurrection: 45%

Stallion – I dug Stallion. He was a nice constant Dixon baddie. He was reliable and dependable. I keep hoping that he got out of Bludhaven alive. I could see him returning as an irradiated goliath.
Likelihood of resurrection 40%

I liked him too, but I don’t see that irradiated thing at all. Maybe his costume will become like Hellhound’s or Black Spide’s, passed along to whoever decides they want to be a cowboy themed villain.
Likelihood of resurrection: statistically insignificant
Likelihood of legacy: 35%

Star Sapphire III – It sucks that she returned from her limbo only to be killed off so meaninglessly. But since she was turned into sapphire and shattered by the Spectre, I could see her returning, ala Eclipso, via a shard. Regardless I’m pretty sure we’ll get a fourth version before too long.
Likelihood of resurrection 95%

Hadn’t thought of the shard idea, but that makes sense.
Likelihood of resurrection: 12%
Likelihood of legacy: 99%

Super Chief II – There never needed to be a second Super Chief. But he got a kind of large build up, which leads me to believe that he’s going to return. I’m guessing it involves Rip Hunter taking Skeets out of the temporal equation, thus Skeets never kills Super Chief II.
Likelihood of resurrection 75%

I’m thinking there will be a Super Chief, but he’s not going to be #2.
Likelihood of resurrection: 10%
Likelihood of legacy: 85%

Superboy – C’mon, does anyone really think he’s going to stay dead? Once the lawsuit clears up, Conner will be cloned before you can say “but, why?”
Likelihood of resurrection 97%

Hmm”¦not so sure. Because a.) I’m not sure the lawsuit is going to be cleared up, at least not that easily and b.) his death was sort of meaningful. Another Superboy, perhaps. In fact, I’d be more likely to bet on Clark Kent, Superboy, given DC’s recent trend of becoming re-enamored with Superman-related Silver Age concepts that dilute the brand, than a Conner return.
Likelihood of resurrection: 3%
Likelihood of legacy: 65%

Superman of Earth 2 – This guy’s not dead. He’s on the new Earth-2 with Wally, the Golden Age Wonder Woman and possibly his wife Lois Lane. The first super hero is not dead.
Likelihood of resurrection 100%

I think Lois is still kicking it, but I don’t think this guy is. I’d be a little disappointed if he was, actually as much as I questioned the idea of killing off the first super hero ever when they did it.
Likelihood of resurrection: 35%

Technocrat – How many of you knew this guy was an Outsider? Exactly. And I’m giving one percent for each of you.
Likelihood of resurrection 4%

Was this guy blinked out of existence with Looker and Breach? I think so. Thus, I’ll put his stats about the same.
Likelihood of appearing ever again: 10%

Terra-Man – He was lame in the Silver Age, but I dug the concept of the modern version (though not the execution.) Anyway, being bisected is never good, but it might be a good example of why you should avoid Black Adam. Still, someone might resurrect the concept.
Likelihood of resurrection 8%

I really have no idea on this one and I’ve written “Likelihood” so many times by now, it does not even look right to me so I’ll just agree with you.
Likelihood of resurrection 8%

Trajectory – I really liked this speedster, but she was destined to die. Oh and yet another decapitation. Looks like DC is trying to move a head of the competition. Looks like in the new DCU people better fly right or heads will roll. Man, does anyone at DC have a good head on their shoulders? Gee, you’d think that DC is run by Islamic Jihadists the way folks are being beheaded. Too far? My bad.
Likelihood of resurrection 0%

Wow”¦just wow. I agree about the percentage though.
Likelihood of resurrection: 0%

The Trigger Twins – Yet another fun Dixon creation (or recreation). They were entertaining and dependable. They were shot, but maybe they survived? Perhaps one is paralyzed and the other has to push him around in his machine gun equipped wheelchair. I hope they’ll come back. At least one of them.
Likelihood of resurrection 45%

I enjoyed them too, but again, I think your percentage is too high.
Likelihood of resurrection 15%

The Ventriloquist – I really loved this guy. He was quite a cool character. The meek Arnold and the mean Scarface. I’ll always remember the Grant/Breyfogle issues. I was sad to see him go. But I’m pretty sure that a new version has already been announced.
Likelihood of resurrection 100%

Yup, new one is on the way. I don’t believe same as the old one though.
Likelihood of legacy: 100%

Vulko – I’m pretty sure he’s going to stay dead. And with his death a huge part of Aquaman’s mythos died as well. It’s like killing Perry White or Alfred. I’d really want him to return, but I think he sleeps with the fishes. Wait, that doesn’t work. Um he’s sleeps with the”¦cats?

Before I leave allow me to plead for questions. Please send them or post them. Post them on our thread! or email your questions directly to me.
