To go along with the press release of Gandhi: 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, which arrives on February 13, 2007, here are some other releases Sony Pictures has in store for the new year.

On the same day as New Line’s Snakes on a Plane on DVD (January 2, 2007), Sony Pictures will unveil Shottas, an unapologetic, urban drama about friendship, loyalty and greed set in the life of two “Shottas” (Jamaican term for gangster) trying to live their dream while growing up amidst the crime-ridden streets of Kingston, Jamaica. I’ve never heard of this film, but it is said to have an extensive cult following. Shottas gets the special treatment with a 2-disc Special Directo’s Edition loaded with never-before-seen special features including: commentary with director Cess Silvera and the cast of Shottas, a multi-part documentary, “Shottas for Life” featurette, Shottas dictionary, an introduction by Kymani Marley as well as a Shottas dedication in memorandum. It will be priced to own at $24.96 SLP.

In February, the studio will look towards its TV shows to increase first quarter earnings. Mad About You: The Complete Third Season will be released on February 6. The following week, the sixth season of All in the Family, Grosse Pointe: The Complete Series, and The King of Queens seventh season will arrive on DVD.

As far as movies go, there’s Zoom, The Quiet, and the critically-heralded Half Nelson on February 13, 2007, and the latest Steven Seagal direct-to-DVD action opus Flight of Fury on February 20.
