More Reason Why Being Deaf Sucks/Rocks – Beans 'n Franks

I’m like Martin Luther King Jr; I have a dream. I want to unite disparate people under one banner. But I’ve got more “wants” that I’ve got “haves.” I’d really like to have an unlimited budget for buying music. I want to really get into jazz, but I can’t afford to dive right in. I typically only pick up a hand full of jazz releases a year.

But my real passion, the thing that I want the most is to create the best mash up ever. I’m a fan of mash ups when they’re done correctly. Blue Eyes Meets Bed Stuy and The Grey Album were pretty enjoyable and innovative.

When I was examining those albums, I realized that one of the most overlooked ingredients for a great mash up is a clever title. Well, I’ve got a great one; Beans ‘n Franks.

Basically it’ll be a mash up between the Beanie Sigel and various Franks.

Obviously you’re going to have some Frank Sinatra there. Frank Zappa and Frank Black would also be safe bets. But the one that’s really a “must” for me is the inclusion of Frank Stallone (if you check out his site, track four is probably his most famous song.) I think it’s Frank Stallone that really makes this mash up works.

While not technically “Franks” I’d give passes to Frankie Avalon, Franki Valli as well as Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Can you imagine what gems could be culled from those catalogues?

I do have to draw the line at Franklins. So no Kirk or Aretha Franklin. Sorry.

Sadly I’ve not the time, money, technology nor skill to actually put this thing together. I don’t know sample or filter. I can’t really construct beats. I certainly don’t have the opportunity to scour catalogues for songs suitable for sampling, much less access to the catalogues.

But hopefully one day someone will make my dream a reality.
