Seven Deadly Days of The Real World: Denver – Wrath Wednesday

Features, Shows

Next we have a sin that everyone has probably committed at least once or twice in their lives. That sin is called wrath. However, most know this sin by its other name and that’s “anger”. Impatience of other people often leads to anger, especially when that impatience lasts a long length of time. Anger towards a race, religion, or sexual orientation for no reason is a form of wrath. These definitions are best known as “prejudice” and “discrimination”. Wrath is also the only sin that is not associated with selfishness.

On The Real World, wrath is very common. It leads to many fights inside the house. Someone gets angry at someone else in the house and as a result a lot of yelling occurs. The yelling and screaming at each other may even result in actual fist fights. This rarely happens as that causes people to get kicked out of the house, but it has happened a handful of times. The cause of all of these fights and misunderstandings is wrath.

Anger towards others because they are different is also very common on The Real World. We have seen discrimination and anger towards other people in the house who may be gay and/or may be a minority and/or may have a different religion than the “norm”. Racial tension within the house is most common, but being gay in the house can lead to just as many problems.

The Denver cast has already featured wrath on the show so far. Tyrie has admitted that he has a “split personality”. He has a side of him known as “Leroy Jenkins”. That side of him is extremely angry. He has already shown that he can explode at any moment in the house. There really doesn’t have to be a legit reason to be angry either. Although as you will often find, the easiest way to make a African-American really angry is to call them the “N-Word”. That was made clear early in this season and ultimately the reason for Tyrie to explode.

Stephen has also committed the sin of wrath so far in this season. It goes back to the “N-Word”. If someone says that, you can expect a huge blowup to occur. However, what Tyrie was really upset about was that Davis didn’t stick up for Stephen when he was called that nasty word. Davis said he didn’t hear that word being directed towards Stephen. The result was anger from Tyrie towards Davis because of Stephen. Of course, Davis then made the mistake himself of saying the “N-word” and that resulted in Stephen getting angry at him.

Wrath is often a common product of pride and envy. Having a person in the house being extremely vane and prideful of themselves oftens leads to anger of others. This occurs most often when a person thinks they are right about every subject, including ones regarding race, religion, and sexual orientation. Those three subjects often lead to the most heated discussions, which easily turn into wrathful fights!

We haven’t seen other examples of wrath on the show yet. But I know that at some point Brooke gets extremely angry at someone. Jenn as well. I’m sure it will probably have something to do with the three subjects I mentioned above. However, I know it will have something to do with pride and/or envy. These three sins seem to go together, which is why they are often grouped together.

Pride often leads to envy and then wrath. But wrath can also come right from pride with no envy involved. Wrath is without a doubt one of the most common sins that people commit in their normal lives. So it should be no surprise that’s one of the most common sins on The Real World and especially in Denver as we have seen already and will continue to see this season.

Sir Linksalot: The Real World: Denver

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
