Remote Destination – All I want for Christmas

Shows

I’ve got loads of TV to watch. I mean loads. I’ve got hours of Grey’s Anatomy and Smallville to catch up on. I have quite a few episodes of 30 Rock, The Simpsons and The Office plus every episode of the new season of Scrubs to watch.

That’s not all. I’ve also just got the seasons six and seven of Homicide: Life on the Street and I’m not even finished with season three yet. Plus I’ve got the first two seasons of Arrested Development and four volumes of Futurama that are en route to the crib.

But I’m not satisfied. In fact despite all of the television that I’ve got backlogged to watch, what I want for Christmas isn’t more time to watch TV, but rather for some shows to finally get the DVD treatment.

Thus her are the five shows that I’d love to be able to own or possibly to buy for someone else.

Thief – FX only took home one Emmy this year and it was for Thief, yet it doesn’t look like the program is going to be seeing a life on DVD anytime soon. I just don’t get it. It was a critically acclaimed show featuring Andre Braugher, an amazing actor, yet I can’t share this show with my mom (who doesn’t have cable)? Where is the justice in this?

Parker Lewis Can’t Lose – If freaking Simon & Simon is out on DVD why the hell isn’t this show? This show was insanely funny. And given the following that Family Guy and Scrubs have right now, I know there’s a niche target for this program. I mean really, Simon & Simon?

Lucky – Every time I write something like this I’m obligated to include Lucky because my roommate loved it. I just “liked” the program, but I’ve got to give them props for the use of Badly Drawn Boy to really capture a powerful scene. So, at the very least I’d be able to buy it for her.

Swan’s Crossing – This was like a soap opera, for kids, in the early 90’s. Now at that point my sense of humor was just starting to take form and I was beginning to appreciate irony and “so bad it’s hilarious.” I wanted to watch this show for both reasons, but my friends at the time didn’t have quite as a developed sense of humor. And since I didn’t want it to look like I really wanted to watch the show, I had to keep quite. But I’d love the chance to marvel at this mess again.

Bakersfield P.D. – This was a really funny show. At last the one episode that I saw was. I think this show was on Friday’s and I could never catch it. But I saw the premiere and I really dug it. And I’m a fan of Giancarlo Esposito work. I’d really appreciate getting the chance to watch this show, but I can’t because it’s not on DVD.

Personally I don’t think that’s too much to ask for, but since Christmas is just days away, I can’t see me finding any of these in my stocking.

Darn.
