Rasslin’ Blogginess (including update on The Rock)

News

Jim Ross has gone BLOGGY. In the past few days, he’s been updating his Web log like a (insert animal metaphor here). Here are some of the latest updates:

December 29
December 27

December 24
December 20

In his posts, he talks about several issues. On The Rock, Ross says that the former champ still catches RAW when he can and still has the wrestling business in his blood. “We don’t talk about ‘what if’ or ‘will you come back and wrestle’ type stuff because I already know Rock would love to perform in front of a live audience if his unreal schedule would allow for it. For those that say the Rock has ‘turned his back on his fans’ I say you are misinformed and not extremely bright.”

Other highlights: Mania 23 matches are purely speculation at this point; wrestlers who don’t want to go to Iraq don’t have to, as there are plenty who do; time will tell if Kozlov or Rodimer will be stars, but if talent relations is only looking at big guys, they’re selling themselves short; he talks about wrestlers being blackballed from WWE (i.e., there are none as long as business is there to be done); Dr. Death is cancer free now for two years and helping out in the WWE developmental system as a coach for a couple weeks a month; he could see Brock coming back; he thinks Lawler should be inducted into the Hall of Fame; he says Kennedy can be the next big superstar; he loves John Cena; he thinks JBL’s doing a great job, and specifically likes his line about Helms being underutilized, as he feels the entire CW division is; he thinks many young talents in and out of WWE are inconsistent and lazy; he talks about Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas’ potential; he comments sarcastically about the Dr. Heiney sketch; he has a great deal of respect for HHH; he doesn’t think DX will add more members but thinks it would be an interesting idea; and he thinks Edge may very well have been the WWE MVP for 2006.

In other blogginews, Beth Phoenix updated her MySpace blog with a post about being in the first ever women’s ladder match in OVW:

Pride…
It finally happened. It took me a couple of days to post a blog on the ladder match because it was a very very emotional situation for me. That match was more than just a ladder match…it marked the official beginning of a recognized women’s division in OVW. OVW has a special place in my heart. I feel that I’ve grown up here as a wrestler…and a woman. I’ve always been eager to take on any role that I’ve been blessed to have…from the manager of the Masterpiece…to the girlfriend of Idol Stevens….to the sugar sweet portion of the Idol-Beth-Shelly menage a trois….to the Glamazon….I’ve really had a great time coming into my own. After I was injured, I was uncertain when I would be returning to RAW. I had two choices…either I could pout and become increasingly bitter…or…I could make the best of my situation. Several women had been coming up in the ranks as great wrestlers…Katie Lea…ODB…Serena…Victoria Crawford…my old rival ECW’s Ariel…and many others…I couldn’t help but get a little jealous seeing them doing better and better each week. Afterall, I want to be the best. So I jumped into the mix…5 months later I found myself across the ring from the UK’s finest…Katie Lea…with our two titles hanging 20 feet above our heads. That match was the most painful thing I’ve ever been through. After it was all said and done, I did not come out the victor. But that match was not just about winning…it was about writing history. I’m so damn proud of that. I strongly believe that the women’s division in OVW is one of the best in the country. 2007 is a new era for the girls here…an era of endless opportunity. Thank you to Danny Davis & Al Snow…for giving us the stage. Their generosity & faith in me fuels me more than they know.

Finally, in a recent “Shootin’ With Tazz” on ECW.com, the ECW commentator says that, in response to rumors that he wants a raise when his contract is up for renewal in March, he hasn’t asked for anything yet and couldn’t because WWE hasn’t yet offered him an extension. ECW has also posted a story on Brad Armstrong’s appearance at the announce table, a commentary from Tommy Dreamer where he asks for a new spine for Christmas (his previous commentary was a bit more significant, and all about what ECW catch phrases no longer apply to the revived brand, and which do) and Matt Striker’s most recent word of the week (aloof). On WWE.com’s commentary site, Jim Ross names the U.S. troops and the WWE superstars who went to visit them in Iraq as superstars of the week.
