TNA Suspensions, TV Deals, Legal Threats & More

News

Several days before the last tapings Simon Diamond, Jerry Lynn and Shane Douglas were given word they were being suspended as agents for the taping. They were told that they were not being hard enough on the talent, as well as turning in their previous agent reports a few days late. The suspension was only for one taping but it hit hard as it was the last one of the year.

The company has been in constant contact with Konnan during his recent difficulties, particularly the Carter family. He has been put on a strict diet to help cleanse his blood during his dialysis treatment, which means no alcohol, no drugs, no dairy, no salt and a low protein intake. Obviously this means a complete lifestyle alteration for someone who has been working as a wrestler and bodybuilder for two decades. He’s likely to lose a significant amount of weight by the time he is ready to return to TV.

TNA has cooled on Bob Sapp after K-1’s Sadaharu Tanigawa sent a legal letter to them, WWE, Pride and all other organisations to remind them Sapp is under contract to K-1 until September, so all bookings must be made through them and they must be get their cut. K-1 are currently suing Sapp for breach of contract and claim he owes them $600,000 in back consumption tax. Sapp is attempting to get an injunction put in place so he can work, with Showtime and Don King interested in arranging an exhibition match against Nikolai Zouev, the 7-foot, 325-pound Russian boxing champion.

TNA’s new UK TV deal with Bravo 2 starts on the 6th January, with Impact airing at 22:00 on Saturday nights. They will also show all the PPVs on the Wednesday after the show airs. In the station’s programme listings they described the show as “TNA Wrestling: All the latest TNA Impact Wrestling action from the USA – the new spin-off from WCW and WWF wrestling, where weapons are permitted and the action is extreme.”

Goldberg will be a guest star on Law & Order: SVU later this month.
