Make Movement: I Wasn’t Laughing

It wouldn’t be just if I didn’t slam Vince McMahon for his one-sided, failed attempt at humor to get a cheap BJ from the mainstream media that he so desperately craves for to get himself coverage by taking advantage of Donald Trump/Rosie O’Donnell feud. It went too far and was dreadfully boring, and St. Louis, my heroes for the night, let Vince McMahon hear it by rejecting the ‘match’ by chanting for everything from ‘TNA’ to ‘we want wrestling.’ Hey, so do I! I’m with you St. Louis! Hey Vince, this was not the good kind of heat you wanted there, it was the get this off my f-cking television type of heat.

As someone who is openly bisexual, it was impossible to not be offended by the constant repetitive ‘jokes’ to ImpersonatorRosie being (more than implying) a fat, ugly non-respecting lesbian who ate a whale-shaped cake and was being a pervert in the women’s locker room. Apparently in Vince’s eyes, if he can look like a bodybuilder with his billion dollar bank account, all gay women should look like those girls in Girls Gone Wild or in porno. Vince can make money off of lesbian-hinted storylines like Mickie James and Trish Stratus and even as far back as Dawn Marie and Torrie Wilson, but when it comes to someone like Rosie O’Donnell, all bets are off. TheDonald impersonator went almost completely unscathed by having Don King-like hairspray and repeating how he was going to fire ‘fatty’s ass.’ So, let’s see, Vince has managed to offend any gay viewers he has and women who struggle with their weight and self-esteem issues. It’s more than being offended as a gay woman, it’s being offended as a long-time wrestling enthusiast. Think Kurt Angle and Trish Stratus made that wrong of a decision now?

This ‘story’ took away from the entire program for me. The two main stories should have stayed that way were Triple H’s torn quadricep injury that he worked through during New Year’s Revolution and Umaga losing his undefeated streak by John Cena. Yes both stories still took place but you wouldn’t have known it based on how much air time Vince gave his self-serving ego driven storyline with Rosie/TheDonald. I don’t believe that Triple H’s injury has anything to do with the Rosie/The Donald storyline whatsoever, they have wrestling talent on their roster, why not use it. Step someone up besides bringing in The Great Khali in the main event picture against John Cena.

So now we have two of the biggest WWE superstars on roster, working together, against John Cena who apparently has no friends in the WWE. What happened to those days where a babyface could run in to help out his babyface champion? No one’s going to remember Jeff Hardy defeating Kenny Dykstra, Carlito defeating Masters (where’s the Caribbean Strap Match WWE?), or Cryme Tyme beats Trevor Murdoch & Lance Cade (how many times can we see this match?). Fans who weren’t walking out of the building, may remember the women’s match, because it was short and involved the Divas and Melina doing a sloppy Trish Stratus bulldog from the second rope and the zero-surprise Umaga run-in during TGK and Umaga.

The only wrestling related moment on this program that struck any cord would be Shawn Michaels and Rated RKO’s segment about Triple H and the future of DX. The fans chanted for Triple H and we’re left wondering if Shawn will carry the company again or take some time off while Triple H pushes himself too hard and too soon to beat the 4- 6 months prognosis as he always tries to do. Taking nothing away from Triple H, he finishes even when people think he shouldn’t, and sets the standard when it comes to not quitting because of a career-threatening injury. It’s either time for Shawn to bring in a new DX member (Jeff Hardy, Carlito, someone we haven’t seen before or in a while), or go solo because I think it would be too tragic for DX to lose it’s fan support now with all their momentum, going into WrestleMania in the Spring.

Always remember, for things to change, you have to make movement. Thanks for reading and for all the feedback, feel free to contact me anytime at Bam@4sternstaging.com.
