Richly Deserved: The Apprentice: Los Angeles Episode 6-2

Last week, Martin needed to go to the bathroom. Martin needed to supervise the building of the tent. Martin needed a break from all the hard work. Martin didn’t feel the need to sell anyone anything. Martin felt the need to place all the blame on Frank. Martin needed to correct Ivanka when she said she didn’t see him working that hard. Martin needed to bitch to Trump after he got fired.

Oh yeah, Frank talked a lot. Heidi’s team won. A-type personalities slept in tents. And Wolfgang Puck likes what he does.

THE TEAMS
With Martin out of the way, here’s what we got left:
Kinetic: Heidi, Derek, Aimee, Marisa, Angela, Surya, Muna, Jenn, Kristine.
Arrow: Frank, James, Aaron, Stefani, Tim, Michelle, Carey, Nicole.

Frank returns from the boardroom yapping and fired up.

THE TASK
To design and manufacture men’s and women’s swimwear and put on a fashion show for buyers. Noted designer Trina Turk will host the fashion show. Trump says whichever team wins will be exempt from taking part in the next task. In other words, this is double-jeopardy for the losers as they will lose at least two team members in a row (In the words of Parvati Shallow (Survivor:Cook Islands), that’s not fun).

Nicole, voice improved but not 100% was the project manager for Arrow. Carey begins designing right away. Some members disagreed with some of the designs.

Kinetic, with Heidi in her second PM stint, starts in the manufacturer’s factory. She starts disagreeing with other team members. Marisa is put in charge of the designing. This is the last time we see them before the fashion show so we can guess how they did.

Carey is really excited about his creation at Arrow. He starts modeling a tight, pink bathing suit. Tim thought Carey was being funny by modelling a women’s bathing suit but then realized, it was a man’s suit. Michelle is speaking about against the suit and she and Carey clash. They also talk about pricing and Carey calls Michelle out for not having an opinion on the price.

The buyers gather for the fashion show. Trump arrives and off come the shoes and socks for his walk on the beach. Kinetic, starts off. Kristine looks great. Team members come out rather quickly. Seems like they went the conservative route with their swimsuit line.

Next, it’s Arrow’s turn. Nicole models a bikini (and realizes at home watching that she has more junk in the trunk than she’d like). Then out comes Carey with his itty bitty teeny weeny “I’m a gay guy” pink bikini (or at least swim trunks). It generates a lot of laughter and raised eyebrows. Muna said she’d never buy any of Arrow’s stuff and says Carey has given “too much information” about himself.

The buyers started their negotiations. After the buying was done, Trina thought both teams’ bikins were strong.

THE TOTALS
Arrow – $19,616
Kinetic – $20,111

Arrow lost because their mens wear produced only about $350 in sales. Frank is nauseous.

REWARD
The limo drops off the Arrows at the Playboy mansion just after sunset. Hugh Hefner’s three girlfriends bring the team into the mansion. Ol’ Hef comes out and notices there are more ladies than guys. “It’s like a Playboy party,” he said. Kristine notices Hef has three girlfriends. Hef begins explaining that he started Playboy in 1953 with no money and put his furniture up as collateral. Later the team is brought back to the pool to party with 30 Playboy bunnies. Trump arrives to join in the fun and introduces Hef to Heidi. Marisa says she doesn’t like the new rule about the project manager continuing on until he/she loses.

BACK AT CAMP (What, no Arrow Tribe flag or buffs?)
Tim feels some of the personalities clash and he calls out Michelle for not mixing well with the rest of the team. Kinetic, in what is the favourite winning team’s pastime, listens in through the bushes. Nicole felt Michelle knew she needed to change how she’s treating the others.

THE BOARDROOM: Trump asks if they like to lose. Nicole says the team took a risk on men’s bathing suits. Carey was singled out as in charge of men’s suits. Trump tells Carey he looked good in the pink suit. Ivanka says the task was tailored to be for buyers, not consumers. Carey admits he is gay. Carey blames Michelle for the loss. Heidi blames the project manager. Asked who each person would fire, Tim says Carey, Stefani: Carey, Aaron: Michelle, Frank: Carey, Carey: Michelle, Michelle: Carey, James: Nicole. Nicole tries to turn it into a personal battle but it is stopped. Nicole brings back Carey and Michelle.
Heidi thinks Nicole should be fired if she approved the designs.
Carey said he thought Trump appreciates someone who takes a risk. Michelle said she objected to the designs. Trump is showing off a pink tie but says he wouldn’t wear a pink bathing suit. Nicole claims pink is the new black. Carey said Michelle was indecisive about the price point. Heidi says Michelle should not be in the boardroom. Trump shows them the pink suit again. Heidi and Ivanka laugh at it. Carey insists there is a market for that while Michelle says the design was rammed down everybody’s throat by Carey. Carey is fired but takes it better than Martin did. Carey mumbles something in the limo.

CAREY
First of all, how could you watch Carey and not think of Big Brother‘s Marcellas? Turns out they have a lot in common. Definitely took a risk and lost.

NEXT WEEK
Laker Girls! Woo hoo! Speaking of Laker girls, doesn’t American Idol start this week?

Till next week. So what happened on 24? On second thought. Don’t bother.
