Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer is reporting a huge gate receipt for 12/30/06’s UFC 66 show.
The official final numbers from the show, which took place at Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Garden Arena, are being reported at a sellout of 13,761 fans, broken down as 12,191 paid and 1,570 comps. According to Meltzer there were actually 14,515 in the building, but that includes workers, press, etc. The final gate stood at $5,397,300.
That figure blows away every pro-wrestling and MMA record ever in North America, with the old pro-wrestling record being $3,846,033 for Wrestlemania X8 (03/17/02) and the old MMA record being $3,452,123 for UFC 61 (07/08/06).
