The ever popular Steve Carell is going to be taking over the role made famous by Don Adams as Maxwell Smart in the updated movie version of the sixties’ TV show. We’ve also known for some time that Anne Hathaway (Havoc, The Devil Wears Prada) will star beside Carell as Agent 99.
Rumor has it now that former wrestler himself; The Rock will also be in the film as a brand new character named Agent 23. As we’ve seen in Be Cool and his appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” that The Rock can certainly hold his own in the comedy department.
And finally it seems as if the villain has also been cast for Get Smart in the form of Terence Stamp. Stamp is no stranger to being evil as has been shown by his roles as Supreme Chancellor Valorum in The Phantom Menace and as my personal favorite, General Zod in Superman II.
Get Smart has no actual release date set but will come out sometime in 2008.
