The Widrospective: Wrestling Society X Episode 2

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

Welcome back to the Widrospective, I got some good feedback to last week’s debut report and am back for episode 2. Three 6 Mafia is here, and the announcers run down tonight’s matches, including VAMPIRO vs. 6-Pac to determine YOUR first ever WSX Champion. As always, send me feedback at widro@4sternstaging.com

Show Intro

Three 6 Mafia performs! They stop and move towards the announce table, as the announcers Kris Kloss and Bret Ernst run down last week’s debut show. And they finish just as Juicy J and DJ Paul from 36M join the table.

Annoying Ring Announcer is in the ring, for our first match.

As with last week each wrestler has a bio onscreen, although wrestlers who had bios last week did not have theirs repeated.

Luke Hawx
Hometown: New Orleans, LA
Titles Held: XPW Deathmatch Champ
Signature Move: Romper Stomper

The Human Tornado
Hometown: Hollywood, AL
Titles Held: AWS, PWG, Rev Pro
Signature Move: Tornado DDT

Luke Hawx vs. The Human Tornado
Luke is partners with Alkatraz and actually got involved in the Rumble to eliminate Kaos in the electricity box last week. Human Tornado is a smooth dancing black man. Luke goes for a low blow but apparently the Tornado has balls of steel. A Tor-Nay-Do chant breaks out. Tornado does a cool huricanrana from the apron off a running Luke Hawx. Tornado follows up with a FAR somersault plancha onto Luke in the crowd. Finish comes soon after with a Torando DDT and the pin.
Winner: The Human Tornado

After the match Aaron Aguilera attacks Luke as payback for his partner last week, and the tag partners come down. AA/Kaos were about to send Alcatraz through a table when AA lost focus and wasn’t paying attention when Luke came back and sent Kaos through the table instead.

Commercial Break

We come back to a taped promo of Teddy Hart and MDOGG 20 Matt Cross, a new tag team. The Filty and the Fury are coming next week and they challenge the world.

Bios:

That 70’s Team
Disco Machine
Joey “Magnum” Ryan
Hometown: Studio 54
Signaure Move: Super 70s Super Kick

Team Dragon’s Gate
Horiguchi
Yoshino
Hometown: Osaka, Japan
Signature Move: Lightning Spiral

That 70s Team (Joey “Magnum” Ryan and the Disco Machine) vs. Team Dragon’s Gate (Horiguchi and Yoshino)
Joey is a hairy 70s lothario and the Disco Machine is a thin disco dancing fool. Not to be confused with Disco Inferno of course. He comes down with a Disco ball he has the ref hold above his head while he dances. Lot of 70s stuff on commentary and gimmicky stuff in the ring like dancing and such. Horiguchi and Joey Magnum start out. Standoff to start and both tag out. Some super fast moves by Yoshino and he has early control. Tag back out to Magnum. He misses a dropkick and has his partner give him an inhaler. Odd. Disco Machine tags in and dances, and Team Dragon’s Gate with some double team maneuvers. Disco blocks a sunset flip, dances and hits Horiguchi and gets a 2 count. Yoshino hits the Lightning Spiral on Magnum but Disco makes the save. Disco and Horiguchi move to the floor with H hitting a suicide dive over the top. But in the ring Magnum hits a tilt a whirl side slam and then a superkick for the pin. Lot of gimmicky stuff and not a great showcase for the Dragon’s Gate guys, but good to see them get their heat back after the pin.
Winners: That 70’s Team

After the match Team Dragon’s Gate smashes the disco ball in disgust!

Up Next: Vamp vs. Pac for the title.

Commercial Break

A vignette airs for the Trailer Park Boyz, shooting some Cops-like footage at a trailer park home. They want to be famous just like Brian Bosworth. Then they bicker. They debut tonight on WSXtra. And they also accepted the challenge of the Filth and the Fury for next week!

WSX Championship
Vampiro vs. 6-Pac

Pac comes out first. Vampiro is from the darkest depths of hell. Damn right! Vampiro is channeling the Undertaker tonight. Has a casket brought to ringside. They show clips of each guy getting the contracts in the ladder portion of the Rumble last week. Vampiro looks ready. Pac is on his game. This is for the first ever WSX CHAMPION. Vampiro is slightly taller than Pac. Pushing and shoving to start and the bell rings. Pac takes early control with a spit in the eyes and a twisting kick. Some chops until Vamp fights back with some headbutts. Announcers put over Vampiro’s power as Pac hits a sit-out powerbomb for 2. Pac goes with the bronco buster! OH GOD his crotch was in Vampiro’s face! Goes for a second time but Vampiro catches him with a choke and powers down Pac. Huge chokeslam by Vampiro. Goes up top but misses a reverse corkscrew plancha (kinda) and Pac clears Vamp with a dropkick. Pac with a somersault plancha (called a tumbleweed) and takes out Vamp on the floor. Pac goes for a cover on the floor, and the announcers inform us ALL WSX matches are falls count anywhere. Some plunder used by Vamp on the floor and then he tosses Pac headfirst in the STEEEEEEEEEEEL ringpost. Vamp takes out a table and sets it up. Pac puts Vamp on the table, and goes into the ring, but Vamp gets up and follows. Pac hits a tornado DDT on Vamp from the ring through the table on the floor and gets a 2 count. Kinda lame to use the Human Tornado’s finisher as a transition move, but whatever. Pac hits the Six Factor on Vamp in the ring and gets a 2 count on a cocky cover where he DID NOT HOOK THE LEG. Pac and Vamp go to the apron near the apron. Vamp gets Pac up for a tombstone, tombstones Pac into the casket which was apparently FILLED WITH BOMBS AND EXPLOSIONS and Vamp pins Pac on the exploded casket wreckage for the match and the title.
Winner and NEW WSX Champion: Vampiro

The ref gives the title belt to Vamp, who holds it up proud. Now the REIGN OF VAMPIRO begins.

Next week:
The Filth and the Fury vs. The Trailer Park Boyz
Jack Evans will be in action
Tables Ladders and CERVEZAS Match
Alcatraz and Luke vs. Aguilera and Kaos

Final Thoughts: While the first show was a bit better, WSX continues to forge a style, with rules and a universe that seems to make sense. They have adopted the old ECW philosophy of relaxed rules for DQs and we learned this week that all matches are falls count anywhere. Some of the explosive stuff is lame, but it makes a cool visual and could attract some new viewers. One complaint is how rushed the show seems with 3 matches in a half hour, I think last week’s 2 was a better flow.
