There Are No Losers in the Black Label Society

Mr. Zakk Wylde almost made me pass out behind the wheel of my car this morning.

Over the past week, Minneapolis’ hard rock station, 93x, has been running a contest to win one of Zakk Wylde’s signature Epiphone guitars. Fans called in answering obscure trivia questions and weathering other nonsense for the opportunity. Just for qualifying, all of them had already won a copy of the latest Black Label Society album and dinner with Zakk at the Hard Rock Cafe where he scheduled a free show.

This morning, Zakk was on “The Half-Assed Morning Show” to promote this Hard Rock performance, which is scheduled for tonight. Of course, this is Zakk Wylde, meaning the interview was nothing short of insanity. He told many stories wandering way off topic, praised God for inventing beer, and told tales of running up bar tabs over $5000 as he keeps buying rounds for everyone. It was hilarious listening to the morning deejays attempting to keep the man on the subject of, well, anything of relevance.

Then came the moment that all of these registered fans were waiting for: Zakk was going to draw the winner of the guitar. And the lucky winner was…

Everyone. Zakk wouldn’t pick just one. He instead said he was going to hook up all of the fans who qualified for the contest with one of his Epiphones. “There are no losers in the Black Label Society,” he said.

Zakk, my next beer will be toasted to you, you crazy bastard.
