Random Reality – American Idol – Hollywood Round (Part 1)

Shows

It’s time to go to Hollywood! American Idol is past the first annoying round of its competition. It has weeded the VERY bad singers from the good singers. But now it’s time to separate the good and just okay to the great and fantastic singers. They are not playing around this year.

The girls sing first and the first 6 to start ALL get cut! That shocks all of them, but I agree. They didn’t impress me at all. I’m a little sad that Jory is going home, because she was the cutest one of those 6, but other than that there was nothing impressive.

Perla Meneses does an annoying entrance at the airport and then she sings like Shakira. She’s from Columbia and she is hott, but I don’t think she can sing anything else. She makes it past the first cut, though.

Baylie Brown is a young country girl. She’s more Carrie Underwood than Kelly Pickler, except she is 16. She is the only one from her six to make it to the next round. No surprise there.

After the first round, 56 out of 114 girls got cut.

Time for the boys now. There are less boys than girls. Brian Miller is the first guy to shine through to the next round. Matt Sato and Jarrod Fowler are good, but Jarrod is going home. Matt has not stopped crying yet.

Phil Stacy, Nick Pedro, Blake Lewis, and Sean from near my hometown all make it to the next round. And if rumors are true, more than one of them should make it to the “Final 24”.

The individual performances are over, but now they must get into groups. This causes all kinds of issues. Perla’s group, which includes Gina Glockson, don’t think Perla can sing that well. Baylie’s group includes the two hott best friends, Amanda and Antonella. They bicker and Amanda later flirts with all of the guys instead of practicing. That will come back to bite her on the butt.

The key thing to remember during “Group Performance Week” is “DO NOT FORGET THE WORDS! Many people forget this unforunately including Matt Sato and Perla Meneses. They go home!

The best group by far is Blake Lewis, Chris Sligh, Rudy Cardenas, and Thomas Lowe. By the way, I liked Chris Sligh from the beginning and I will be rooting for him in the finals, since I’m certain he will make it that far.

Jason “Sundance” Head screwed up during his individual performance, but still made it through. He has personality and an unique look, but he didn’t really impress me this time around. Even he thinks he didn’t do that well, but he gets a third chance.

Time for Baylie, Amanda, and Antonella. Amanda and Baylie both forget their words. In fact, Baylie didn’t really sing much at all. But Baylie is going home today. That’s a little sad, but you have to sing. Baylie confronts Amanda and Antonella afterwards about “playing around and flirting”. Amanda is a LIAR and I don’t like her! But Baylie has no room to talk. She DIDN’T SING MORE THAN 5 WORDS! Automatic elimination! (Maybe next year she’ll learn to a) pick a better trio, and b) practice until she remembers the lyrics. And guaranteed, if she tries out again she’ll be back – Kevin) In total, 36 people were cut after this round including by hometown boy.

56 people are left and they all sing again. They get broken up into 3 rooms. 2 rooms are staying, while 1 room is going home. The third room gets cut. Who is notable from that room? Well how about best friend Amanda. Amanda says she is happy for Antonella, though. Sanjaya Malakar loses his sister as well. Who will make it to the “Final 24”? Find out tomorrow on American Idol.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
