SKTV – House / Law & Order SVU

Shows

Ah, House, you rascal. I knew there was something going on when he kept pressuring the ducklings to take one of the girl’s spinal nerves despite no compelling medical evidence that his “plan” had anything to do with her condition. And in true House fashion, a patient who feels no pain gives them carte blanche to put some of the most cringe-worthy moments on TV in this episode, like the drill into the brain (trying to one-up 24, I guess) or the burned hand or the incredibly disgusting tapeworm that ultimately was causing her B12 deficiency. One thing I really liked about the ending was that it didn’t turn out that she had some weird malady that was causing her underlying condition — at the end of the day she might have been lighter one tapeworm, but she still was incapable of feeling any pain and House didn’t have any miracle cure like with the fat kid or the dwarf. And how can we cover this episode without getting to the contrast between lonely Lisa Cuddy and almost-as-lonely Allison Cameron, who was actually so desperate that she asked Chase for a booty call. But then, who wouldn’t take her up on it? Quick show of hands while we’re at it: Does House want Cuddy or not? More importantly, when will House and Wilson finally admit to their secret romance and get married? And of course, next week it’s pre-empted again. All together now: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK you, American Idol.

Over on SVU, it was another left-turn show, as it started out as a run-of-the-mill show about a drugged up daughter killing her own mother via candlestick sodomy, you know, the usual. Cary Elwes playing a “Joisey” mob lawyer was an interesting turn, and I thought the head injury angle was going to figure somewhere into things, but no, instead they went with “Eliot beats a suspect to death” as the main storyline and then everyone is all shocked like “What, Stabler goes insane and kills a guy? That’s so unlike him!” Really, this has been building for a while and you just knew that he was gonna have to haul off and beat the shit out of some punk to blow off the steam that had been accumulating for the past couple of seasons. Now again, all we need is Olivia to start busting heads again and we’re all set.
