How WSX Premiere Did vs. ECW

News, Ratings

The February 12 edition of the Wrestling Observer newsletter (click here for subscription information) has some interesting notes on WSX ratings. Here are just a few:

– Ratings for the premiere episode (Tuesday, 1/30 at 10:30pm ET, not the “sneak peak” the preceding Friday) were a 0.78 and 945,000 viewers. ECW from 10-11pm did a 1.73 cable rating (2,030,000 viewers), with its highest ratings in the second half of the show, which went up against WSX.

– The WSX rating is basically what TNA was doing on Spike before moving to 9pm, by the way.

– Ratings among teenagers were better than UFC, TNA or ECW, getting a 1.0 (1.5 for males, 0.5 for females), with an AVERAGE viewing age of 21. With teenage boys, its rating was 24% higher than ECW.

– Also compared with ECW, ECW had 358,000 male viewers ages 35-49 to WSX’ 15,000, and 121,000 female viewers in that age group to WSX’ 37,000.

The ratings should of course be taken for what they’re worth, keeping in mind ECW was live and WSX was taped months ago.
