Mastodon Declared Fashion Rejects. Like They Give a S**t.

From Blabbermouth:

E!’s “Fashion Police” slammed the Atlanta, Georgia-based metal band MASTODON for sporting “greasy hair” and “rat tails” during their appearance at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles this past Sunday (February 11). Watch the 28-second clip at YouTube.com.

MASTODON was nominated in the “Best Metal Performance” category at the 49th annual Grammy Awards for its song “Colony if Birchmen”. The track comes off the group’s latest album, “Blood Mountain”, which has sold 88,000 copies in the United States since its release in early September, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

MASTODON is in the middle of a U.S. tour with CONVERGE and PRIESTESS.

I realize that I probably shouldn’t even comment on this, because it only serves to perpetuate the patent ridiculousness of the whole thing. Paying it attention only feeds the monster. Unfortunately, I’m not too proud to flout the high road and instead will gladly take any chance to rip on the self-appointed elitists who make their living scoffing at others’ fashion choices…especially when the supposedly bourgeois people they’re targeting obviously don’t give a f*ck.

Cheers to all the Metal Grammy nominees for being themselves and not giving in to the pressure to fit the mold of a high-profile event. It is, after all, their music we care about- not how often they wash their hair. It’s downright irksome that the ever-fashionable Brooke Hogan and her co-pundits don’t care to recognize that.
