Richly Deserved: The Apprentice: Los Angeles Episode 6-6

Shows

Previously on The Apprentice, Aaron quietly leads Arrow in a task involving the harvesting and selling of honey. His team, more vocally, lead HIM in a task involving the harvesting and selling of honey. Aaron, regardless of who is leading the task, loses. Aaron quietly tries to defend himself in the boardroom. It does not work. Aaron is fired.

And oh yeah, Derek has gone from being Shamu to the Pillsbury Doughboy.

THE TEAMS
With Aaron heading for being driven towards Fullerton, our teams are now …
Kinetic: Aimee, Heidi, Derek, Angela, Muna, Jenn, Kristine.
Arrow: Frank, James, Stefani, Tim, Surya, Nicole

Upon return to the camp, Surya is fired up. A steely glare in his eyes, passion in his voice. And we thought Angela was the hockey player in this group.

THE TASK
The candidates are instructed to put on a promotional event for Priceline.com (the travel service the always-annoying Bill Shatner used to be a pitchman for, or he still might be, I don’t know or care) in a local mall. Whoever gets the most people to sign up for Priceline membership wins. Two executives from Priceline supervise the task.

Surya takes over as project manager for Arrow, with something to prove.

Aimee, off last week’s less-than-stellar performance, continues for Kinetic, feeling she has nothing to prove, at least to her team.

Both teams come up with a prize giveaway every few minutes promotion. Aimee delegates tasks but puts Muna in charge of two things. Kristine tells Aimee to slow down and think about this. Jenn and Derek tour the mall and they are told that 50% of the shoppers are Hispanics. This becomes important but they didn’t realize that at the time.

Kinetic sets up an island-themed booth that Jenn designed and the women look cute in straw hats and colorful shirts. But Aimee decided to confront Jenn over of all things, a blow-up octopus doll on the display. Jenn said Aimee gave no direction.

Once again, the selling on Arrow’s side rests with James and “Frankiesuits” (I’m really starting to like the guy). Surya is seen casually strolling around the mall trying to get people to come to the booth with no response.

Angela and Muna were also trying to sell with limited success. They realized the Hispanic-language issue was a bigger problem than first thought. Muna and Derek started a rally by staying at the booth and using their Spainish language skills.

THE RESULT
Arrow: 359 signups, Kinetic: 326. The thread Aimee was hanging on just got thinner.

THE REWARD
A nice day at the beach getting surfing lessions then brunch at Gladstone’s restaurant.

NOW FOR WHAT REALLY MATTERS
Nicole injured her foot while riding her board (it wasn’t what most of us would call surfing) and had to go to the doctor. Tim accompanied her, sacrificing the brunch. The doctor told her it was just a jellyfish sting. Then, back at the mansion with everyone gone to bed, Tim and Nicole flirt first, then a long, second-date calibre kiss (not that I would know because I rarely get a first date let alone a second).

BACK AT CAMP
Aimee tells Jenn she really likes her and finds her fun but has to call her out in the boardroom. Jenn vows to fight back.

THE BOARDROOM
Don Jr. joins the fray. Aimee said they lost because of the language issue. But the others just focused on how poor Aimee was as a leader. Even Angela, who tried very hard to be diplomatic, said Aimee left her confused.

Aimee picked Derek and Jenn for the final boardroom. And despite Don Jr. picking on Derek because he and Jenn didn’t inform Aimee about the Hispanic demographic in the mall, Trump knew Aimee’s leadership style was the issue and fired her.

Aimee was spewing hate at her teammates during the cab ride confessional. I wonder if she’ll have a different perspective when Roxanne talks to her later in the week.
