The O.C. – Episode 4-14 – “The Shake Up”

It’s earthquake time baby! We open up this episode with a little ground shakin’, glass breakin’, water wavin’, baby makin’..err..maybe not that last one, but all of the others apply. An earthquake has hit The O.C.. BUT first we have to go back 72 hours, to when times were happier. Lets look back before everything changes!

It’s Taylor’s birthday. She has never had a birthday party before. So it’s up to Ryan to throw a big party for her. Taylor only wants one thing from Ryan for her birthday. She wants Ryan to ask her to go to the University of California at Berkeley. She apparently wants to spend her life with him and they have to go to the same college for that to happen. To do that, Taylor believes that Ryan has to tell her that he loves her. Not an easy task.

Taylor is up to the challenge, though. She tries to drop hints to Ryan every chance she gets. Summer even does the same. It’s basically to the point where Ryan HAS to say “I love you”, so that she will get off his back. Taylor even tries to get Ryan drunk off of wine to get him to say it. That didn’t work as Taylor becomes drunk and has to be carried upstairs by Ryan. Drunk Taylor is funny! Ryan does say the three little words, but again, I don’t think he really means it. Taylor then lets the “cat out of the bag” and says that they can go to Berkeley together now. This freaks Ryan out even more. That mean 4 more years of her, which is not a bad thing, but he’s not ready for all of this yet.

Kaitlin tries to destroy the relationship of Frank and Julie. This basically means she acts juvenile. Frank loves “clown porn” or something. Finally, Julie and Kaitlin have a serious talk about what is really going on here. Kaitlin says that they lost everyone. They lost dad. They lost Marissa. They had Dr. Roberts, but lost him. Then it was Bullit. Kaitlin just wants to be a family with her mom, just the two of them.

Kirsten gets a taste of being a “new mother” in this day and age. That means Holly is pregnant and “barfing” all over the place with “cuteness”. It was funny for awhile, but now it’s not so much. Basically, they act like college sorority chick to the the EXTREME!

Summer wants Seth to find something to believe in like she has. She tells Seth to make an “art film”, since he makes fun of some art they were viewing at a museum. Seth films the pool for 6 hours. Summer doesn’t like that, so then Seth spends the rest of the episode following Ryan and his “Taylor troubles”. Pretty funny stuff there. “Dean Hess’ sloppy seconds!” HAHA! That is until Seth overhears Summer tell his mom that she thinks Seth is “lost” and needs something to believe in.

Taylor’s birthday party is a bust. Ryan decides to give her a less romantic gift. A dictionary. Taylor is upset, since Ryan said he loved her. Of course, he probably wouldn’t have said it if he had known they were going to the same college. That’s a big decision. In the end, though, Ryan does say “I love you”. That’s after he talks to Kaitlin and tells her to try things out with Frank. “You may not know how it all ends, but it’s at least worth a try.” They both are going to try to make things work.

Ryan and Taylor kiss and then here comes the earthquake. And my god, this is violent. This doesn’t look good at all. Ryan is on top of Taylor, protecting her from something falling. Seth and Summer are in a car and here comes something at them. Kirsten has fallen and Sandy is covering her up. Here comes something falling and we have to wait until next week to find out. But it doesn’t look good for Ryan. Ouch! Man..this is good stuff!

Sir Linksalot: The O.C.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
