Michael Bay’s live-action Transformers film doesn’t come out until July 4, but that doesn’t mean the hype hasn’t been blown through the roof already. There have been images of the robots themselves shown around the internet, and not to mention the toys already showing what the others will look like.

But what has a few old-school enthusiasts chomping at the bit are the changes made to the vehicle transformations of some of the robots. For instance, Optimus Prime is not going to be a long-nosed mack truck but now will be a flat-faced truck. Bay has gone on to say that he has made such changes to keep things as realistic as possible if huge shape-shifting robots were ever to roam the earth.

All the vehicles in the film will be those of General Motors Corp. since Bay has been affiliated with them for quite some time.

“There were no other cars that even came close. I have had a great working relationship with GM for many years and am psyched to be working with them on Transformers,” said Bay.

The president of Worldwide Marketing at Paramount Studios, Gerry Rich had this to say about the GM deal. “We are thrilled to be working with GM on this incredible and action-packed film. Having integrated the cars as characters in the film is truly an innovative concept that will help eventize this exciting 4th of July tentpole film.

As a few of the vehicles were presented, images of four of the Autobots were released.

Bumblebee – Chevrolet Camaro

Ironhide – GMC Topkick

Ratchet – Hummer H2

Jazz – Pontiac Solstice
