Huge Mexican Star to WWE?

News

Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com has reported that Mistico — the top draw in Mexico and one of the most sucessful wrestlers in 2006 — is scheduled to appear at the WWE tapings Tuesday night in San Jose.

According to Meltzer, Mistico will be in San Jose against the wishes of CMLL, the lucha libre promotion for which he has become a star. He goes on to say that this “will probably change several times over the next six days because of the gigantic political implications of this decision…”

The “Juniors Division” introduced on Smackdown last year was supposedly thought up as a vehicle for Mistico to be brought to WWE and put over strong, in a way the cruiserweight division has never been able to shine. Of course, that division ended up being a bunch of midgets jumping around to clown music, so it’s understandable why CMLL isn’t thrilled with Mistico right now.
