Next Saturday Night’s Main Event Postponed

News

Pro Wrestling Insider’s Mike Johnson is reporting that the March 10 Saturday Night’s Main Event, scheduled to be taped on March 5 in Phoenix, Arizona along with that night’s RAW, has been postponed. The US Air Arena in Phoenix is no longer promoting SNME in its advertising.

According to Johnson’s sources, NBC has asked WWE to hold SNME’s next episode for June, with one reason possibly being an anticipated Writer’s Guild strike. Any strike would likely take place after the current Guild contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers ends in May. WWE agreed to postpone the event after initially being upset with the request, particularly because SNME – like last year – was slated to be a key part of the Road to Wrestlemania.

NBC had reportedly planned to move the special from prime time to the late night “SNL” slot due to low ratings, but then changed its mind due to potential ad revenue losses. As for non-U.S. markets planning to air SNME in March, they have been notified of the change and will plan accordingly.
