TV Babies: Prison Break, Episode 2-18

Shows

Just when Prison Break was smartly tightening things up, and heading for a potentially very strong conclusion – we were burdened last night with some unecessary, time-killing twists:

T-Bag showed some remorse last week, and at least the traces of a human being. So let’s have him find a look-alike shrink, pretend to be interested in therapy for five minutes – then bludgeon the shrink and steal his identity.

Sucre finally reunites with Maricruz in Ixtapa, they evade the local authorities and find a nice quaint place to stay with his aunt in the middle of nowhere. Perfect ending to Sucre’s story, right? Wrong. Instead, let’s drag Bellick back into the fray and send him down to Mexico. A few weeks ago, Bellick was back in Fox River on a murder rap. Now he’s a rogue agent with license to leave the country at a moment’s notice.

At the complete opposite end of the ridiculous spectrum: C-Note’s apparent end of the rope. Mahone goes from needing him to not needing him, thus deciding it’s time to end his life. Did he really think this was necessary? Like Kim won’t have other things to worry about than C-Note, who is behind bars by the way…

We also get a little of Kellerman’s back-story: his parents weren’t the Cleavers, and he apparently left his younger sister behind to deal with it. He makes a very brief visit to sis to tell her he doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong anymore, but he loves her. Are they really still trying for sympathy with this character?

Even Michael, Lincoln and Sara’s story went around in circles, literally. First, the tape that Pope got them is worthless due to lack of certainty as to when the tape was made. They spend the rest of the episode sending a potential government ally on an absurd obstacle course/scavenger hunt. They eventually do find the real Cooper Green, who may or may not be able to help them. And Lincoln speaks briefly with L.J., who’s kind of enjoying his current quiet, less dramatic existence. Who could blame him?
