Random Reality – American Idol – Top 10 Men

Shows

I should mention that last week I went 4 for 4 in my American Idol predictions. Can I keep that streak going? I think so. We are now down to 10 men. Two more will go home this week. That still probably means that at least 6 or 7 will stink up the place, but someone has to move on. Lets find out how the guys did this week, along with who I think will go home.

**NOTE** I’m writing this as I watch it, so some of the song names will be missing since I can’t look them up until later**

Phil Stacey was first off as he sang “Missing You” by John Waite. A favorite 80’s song of mine. That was pretty good actually. Randy thought it was a great way to start things off this week. Paula loved it. She loved the tone of his voice. Simon wasn’t that impressed, but says he doesn’t have an unique voice. Simon does think he is very popular, though, so he should be safe.

Jared Cotter was next and tries to sing “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye. He was better this week, but nothing special. Randy said it was pitchy. He liked the “McSteamy” face he gave at the end. Seriously he said that. Paula is drunk. She says something about him “pushing” the song. Simon says the song was corny to him and something that could have been on the Love Boat. Yes, the wheels are falling off.

A.J. Tabaldo was after Jared. He sang a song that I don’t know. It was called “It’s a New Day” by I don’t know. Randy thought it was better than last week. It was better, but still a little weird to me. Could have sung a better song. Simon says it was “nearly very good”. Simon liked that he made himself different and he showed his personality for the first time.

Sanjaya Malakar was the next guy to take the stage. He sang a VERY old song called “Stepping Out” by Tony Bennett. Randy thought it was weak, and I agree. That was all wrong. It was different, but not the right thing to sing. Paula didn’t really like it either. Simon thought it was like the parents asking the kids to dress up like them and sing. The thing about Sanjaya is that he should go home, but last week he was in the “top 4” for the guys. So who knows how America will vote. Simon finishes it off by calling it weak, weird, and he was whispering the song halfway through.

Chris Sligh has a hott wife. He sang “Trouble (Saved by a Woman)” by I have no clue? Randy thought it was good and even better than last week. Simon thought he proved that he was a very good singer here. He has a good voice and I liked this a lot myself.

Nick Pedro sang “Fever” by Peggy Lee and/or Ella Fitzgerald. This was different, but it was just okay for me. Randy said it was better than last week again. Simon says that Nick has a good voice, but he lacked charisma. That was what I was thinking.

Blake Lewis sang “Virtual Insanity” by Jamiroquai. He even got the chance to throw in some beat box during this song. This was right up his alley. I liked this song a lot. Randy raves about him. He liked it a lot. It was a difficult song to sing. Simon didn’t like it, though. He only really liked the middle part of the song and thought it was a “copycat performance”. He was disappointed.

Brandon Rogers sang “Time After Time” by Cindy Lauper. Yeah, I didn’t like that so much. He still sounds like a backup singer. It got better towards the end, but the beginning was rough. Randy thought it was boring. Brandon picked the song to dedicate to his grandma and didn’t think he needed to add a whole lot to it. Still it wasn’t that good to me. Simon told him to show his voice more.

Chris Richardson sang “Geek in the Pink” by Jason Mraz. Never heard this song before now, but I should have. It was good and different. Randy thought it was fantastic. Paula agrees, and Simon thought it was the “best of the night”. So there you go.

Jason “Sundance” Head finished us off by singing “Mustang Sally” by who hasn’t sung this song. It’s different, but nowhere near the best tonight. Randy liked it a lot. He likes the “blue” element to his voice. Paula thought he had great range. Simon agreed, but thinks he can do better than that.

All of the guys easily performed better this week. It’s tough to judge them and pick the best when they were all relatively good. But I have broken the guys into three categories. There are four guys that should be easily safe into the “Top 12”. Then there are the other 6. There are three that I think are safe for another week, and then we have the guys that should be going home…

My Standings

(SHOOTING STARS)
1. Chris Sligh
2. Blake Lewis
3. Chris Richardson
4. Phil Stacey

(HOLDING ON STRONG)
5. A.J. Tabaldo
6. Nick Pedro
7. Jason “Sundance” Head

(BOTTOM FEEDERS)
8. Brandon Rogers
9. Jared Cotter
10. Sanjaya Malakar

It gets tricky to predict things now. However, I predict Sanjaya and Jared will go home this week. But Sanjaya worries me because of last week. I could easily see him last another week and Brandon could fall to this spot. Then again A.J., Sundance, and Nick could just as easily go home as well. America does stupid things a lot of times on this show.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
