Random Reality – American Idol – Top 8 Women

Shows

Last night the guys sucked again. Can the girls beat them again this week? Probably so, but which two girls will not make it past this round? Lets find out now…

**NOTE** I’m writing this as I watch it, so some of the song names will be missing since I can’t look them up until later

Jordin Sparks was up first. She sang “Heartbreaker” by Pat Benatar. Randy thought it wasn’t the best, but it was better than all of the songs that the guys sang last night. Simon thought it was a bit shrieky at times. I agree with Simon. It was a little sporadic at times. Simon thinks she is safe for another week, though.

Sabrina Sloan sang next and she sang “What You Want To Be” by someone I should know but don’t. Randy didn’t like the song choice. He wanted more melody to that song. Paula thought she sang it extremely well. Simon thought there was no emotion and no personality in that song. I thought it was a little “whiny”.

Antonella Barba sang “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae. I’ve heard it before, this wasn’t that good. She poses too much when she sings. And the backup singers oversung her. Randy liked the ending and song choice, but didn’t show what she can really do. Paula says that the bottom notes sucked! The high notes were good. Simon thinks that she has gone as far as she can go. Simon says it wasn’t her worst, but she can’t sing any better than that.

Haley Scarnato went up and sang “If My Heart Had Wings” by Martina McBride, I think. It was good, but I don’t know if it was good enough to make it to the next round. It’s going to be close. Randy wasn’t “WOWed”. It was good, but there was no “YO!” to it. Paula says she looked good, so there you go. Simon thought it was horrible. He thought it was a high school musical performance. Simon doesn’t think she has made enough of an impression on the audience.

Stephanie Edwards sang a Chaka Khan song called “You’re My Everything” possibly. That means Randy was comparing her to the original from the start and thus it was only okay. Paula thought she was near perfect. Simon thinks she is one of the best in the competition. She should be safely into “The Final 12”. Simon and Randy both want her to find out who she is, though, and not copy other people’s styles.

Lakisha Jones sang “If I Don’t Have You” by Whitney Houston. She did great, of course. Another knockout performance from her. Randy thought it wasn’t her best, but it was still fantastic. Paula loves her. Simon says more of the same really. Early favorite in my book.

Gina Glocksen sang “Call Me When You’re Sober” by Evanescence. She “rocked out” with that song. She did great actually. She needed to be different and she pulled it off there. Randy thought it was pitchy, but this is who he thought she was. Paula agrees. Simon says she tended to scream the song, but hopes she makes it the next round. He says she is a “breath of fresh air”. She deserves to make it to the finals.

Melinda Doolittle finished up off by singing “W-O-M-A-N” by I don’t know. Randy thought it was the best of the night. She can make a record right now says Randy. Paula drools over her. Simon calls her a tiger instead of a cat. She is in for sure says Simon. No doubt about it. I thought it wasn’t the best of the night, but near the top.

So again the girls were better this week. I actually thought they sucked compared to the guys last week. But like the first week, that changed here. I have separated the girls into three groups. Basically, I think there are 5 girls that should make it to the final round. Then, there are three girls fighting for one spot. More on that after I give you the breakdown…

My Standings

(SURE THINGS)
1. Lakisha Jones
2. Melinda Doolittle

(SAFE BETS)
3. Sabrina Sloan
4. Gina Glocksen
5. Stephanie Edwards

(FLIP A COIN)
6. Haley Scarnato
7. Jordin Sparks
8. Antonella Barba

Okay, first thing. Based on talent, Antonella should go home. And as much as I hate to say it, Haley should probably go home as well. Jordin is probably more talented than Haley, but the probably is that her look is the same. Jordin looks and has the same style as too many girls that can sing better than her. Jordin is young. Honestly I see either Haley or Antonella making it, since they have a different look. I pray that it’s not Antonella. She has sucked from the very beginning. This is Political Beauty Idol, though, and everyone must be represented properly. But my predictions are Antonella and Jordin going home! Find out who does go home tomorrow night.
