Warner Bros. Pictures and producer Lionel Wigram are putting their collective heads together and are going to re-imagine super sleuth Sherlock Holmes in a bit of an action-adventure mystery. They are going to take Wigram’s comic book “Sherlock Holmes” and adapt it for theatres.
Neil Marshall (The Descent) is set to direct the film while Michael Johnson will write the script.
The film entitled Sherlock has a closely guarded plot as Warner Bros. is not willing to reveal anything just yet. They have said that this will not be your common old Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, but that they intend to reinvent the duo much in the same way Christopher Nolan did with Batman.
Wigram wishes to bring about a lot of Holmes’ qualities that have been overlooked for a long time. Holmes’ will lose a bit of his uppity demeanor and become more adventuresome showcasing his skills as an expert swordsman and bare-knuckle boxer. The focus will still be to solve crimes and seek out mysteries, but Holmes will simply do it in a different style.
No word yet on a release date, but Sherlock will be the next project for Marshall to work on.
