Austin, Foley, Rock & More Updates

The ‘special guest referee’ segment of the 5th March Raw, featuring Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley and Shane McMahon as well as the return of Steve Austin, gained 1,548,000 viewers. That’s one of the biggest numbers for a segment in many years.

The Rock’s taped segment on the 12th March Raw was put together by Brian Gewirtz, one of the few people of the company still in regular contact with him. Rock improvised the entire thing rather than using a script.

Mick Foley never pitched any ideas for him to be involved at WrestleMania. He knew Austin was coming back and thought Hulk Hogan was as well, so his involvement would have meant very little and he ought to save it for later on. His main plan is to feud with Johnny Nitro. Also, in an interview with IGN, he said WWE had dropped the ball with C.M. Punk. “Well, in this case, I guess the fans were over-ridden. I do think it’s backstage politics, and I’m not there so I don’t have a real answer for you, but I know that it stinks and I don’t like it.”

WWE has a handshake deal with the Hawaiian Tropics modelling agency to sign up their top women after they have run their course as new faces in modelling. The agency sent several women to compete in the Diva Searches. The latest one signed by WWE is Christine LeMaster, also called Christine Marie. She’s 24 and from Tampa and a skank.

If you send in your cable bill showing proof of purchase of this year’s Backlash and Judgement Day PPVs, WWE will send you a free WrestleMania 23 DVD. The address is WWE Backlash & Judgement Day Offer, Hartford Direct, 129 Worthington Ridge, Berlin, CT 06037-1634 and have it postmarked by 8/1.
