Modano and the Preds

Modano breaks record

Mike Modano scored twice against the Nashville Preds on St. Patrick’s Day to become the highest scoring American born player in NHL history. If that wasn’t enough for a story, Dallas president Jim Lites has begun griping about Nashville’s lack of acknowledgment to Modano’s new record during the game.

“I understand it’s a competitive situation, but we’re also working together to sell the game,” Lites told the paper. “They get more money from revenue sharing than any team in the league, they voted against the new schedule because they wanted to have an easier schedule for themselves. They take and take and take and take and never give back, and I’m sick of it.”

Translation:

“We’re trying to sell the game here! This isn’t surprising anyhow, Nashville isn’t a hockey city, they should be glad that they’re getting money from the real hockey teams. It’s just another example of that organization and that city knowing nothing about hockey.”

Lites didn’t have time to get off his high horse long enough to mention that Modano did NOT deliver a cheap shot to Nashville’s Jordin Tootoo and that the latter’s 5 game suspension for punching out Stephane Robidas was too lenient.
