The Weinstein Company has an April 11 start date set for shooting on Wayne Kramer’s new film Crossing Over. Kramer (The Cooler) is directing the film and also wrote the script.
Crossing Over is said to have many interwoven story lines but focuses on the huge topic of illegal immigrants and their coming over into the United States.
The cast already has three major stars in Harrison Ford, Sean Penn, and Ray Liotta appearing in the film; although it is said the casting list will grow considerably as shooting begins. Penn is set only for a small cameo role playing a border patrol agent. Ford takes over the role of an immigration enforcement agent who stages raids to gather up illegal immigrants. And Liotta plays a USCIS district adjudicator who tries to deal with the problems caused by illegal immigrants.
No release date is set but you can most likely look for it sometime in early to mid 2008.
