Low Blows: Tarver, Another Contender Tournament, and More

Highlights from Dan Rafael’s Notebook at ESPN.com:

– Antonio Tarver’s scheduled bout with Elvir Muriqi has been moved to June 9th on Showtime. It was previously scheduled for April 22nd and was supposed to be the first live boxing program on ABC in seven years.

– The fight details are shaping up for Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams. It’s a fight that I’m extremely interested in seeing and it has been picked up by HBO for a date in July. It will either be paired with Wlad Klitschko/Brewster or an Arturo Gatti fight. Margarito and Williams don’t like each other and that always makes for a more intriguing matchup.

– Lou DiBella is in negotiations with The Contender to stage a tournament similar to the current series “The Contender Challenge: UK vs. USA” being broadcast on ESPN. DiBella wants to match up Contender stars with his crop of New York-based fighters.
