Warner Australia has a lot of direct to DVD sequels lined up that are bound to make fans very happy or extremely agitated. One of the biggest ones is a sequel to the 1988 hit Beetlejuice.
Not much is known about the sequel other then that Michael Keaton will not be back to fill the shoes of the “ghost with the most.” Keaton played Beetlejuice in the original opposite Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin.
It told the story of a young couple in a small town who had a tragic accident and drowned. In order to find out more about their death and why they are in limbo, they summon the leading bio-exorcist Beetlejuice. This is also to help them get the horrible new people who have moved into their home where they are prisoners. The help they were hoping for ends up being more trouble then it is worth.
As with most direct to DVD sequels, the original director, Tim Burton in this case, will be credited with an executive producer title. But other then the title, he’ll have very little to do with the creation of the film itself.
Warner Australia has many other sequels planned for direct to DVD for films that had success with the first one and haven’t been heard from again for some time such as Space Jam, Under Siege, and Training Day.
