Teams went from Macau to Guam, which required taking the ferry back to Hong Kong and checking in to a different flight in Tokyo. Danny and Oswald had only 45 minutes to check in and make the Continental flight, but luckily they did. Which was unlucky for the other teams, as a 9:30pm arrival all but assured that there would be a bottleneck until the morning, and having one team way behind would offer some measure of relief.

Also of note was that Danny and Oswald departed the Pit Stop some 2-3 hours behind the other teams. The production team did some great work last leg to make the finish look much closer than it was. Take a bow, guys.

Detour – Care Package or Engine Care
I would say that all four teams chose their tasks wisely. Charla and Mirna would probably have a lot of difficulty cleaning the jet engine, so the less physical task was a better option for them. Yes, they finished the Detour in last, but cleaning would probably have set them back even further.

Roadblock – Search and Rescue
We got confirmation here that the six-roadblock rule was in effect, as Danielle was forced to do the task. Charla opted to do the task, figuring to save the last Roadblock for Mirna, but there was a flaw in their thinking – Mirna had only done 4 Roadblocks to this point, and thus Charla used her last Roadblock here. Which means that if the final leg has more than one Roadblock (which I’m doubting at this point), both Mirna and Danielle will need to perform two Roadblock tasks, whereas the Beauty Queens would have to do only one each. To be honest though, I think Eric’s just hoping that the final Roadblock has nothing to do with geography.

The task itself didn’t seem difficult, but only Dustin seemed to breeze through it. This falls in line with the Beauty Queens generally being the only team to actually pay attention to the details of the task. Perhaps Mirna would’ve fared better than her cousin here, but their brain fart with respect to Roadblocks performed and their finishing ahead of Danny and Oswald rendered that a moot point.

Looking at a road map of Guam, it doesn’t seem that the teams could get that lost – similar to many small islands, there are very few main roads to travel. Yet it seemed that all teams except for Dustin and Kandice had navigation issues.

The final leg looks to be going through Hawaii and finishing in San Francisco (I thought I spied Alcatraz), possibly in the same location where the second season finished up. Let’s rank the final three teams:

Dustin and Kandice have to be considered the favourites at this point. They’ve finished three of the last four legs in first, they hold an option for who can perform the Roadblock, and seem to be peaking.

Eric and Danielle have yet to finish first, yet they’ve survived and seem to be in much better physical condition than the cousins. I could see them pulling things out, but a second place finish seems to be in the cards for them.

Charla and Mirna are in a tough spot. Like Lyn and Karlyn last season, they are considered to be the dark horses to win the final leg. Yet they HAVE won previous legs, and you can never count out any team in the final leg – unless they’re already way behind as Team Guido were in season one. Still, they seem to be wearing down, they’re not going to win a footrace if it comes to that and Mirna’s condescending attitude will be a detriment in the States. We’ll see how things play out.
